Quickstarts with the download

Any preferences to the kind of universes you'd like to get stuck into quickly?

How about a fictional universe that has a league for every continent with affiliated minor leagues?

Given that they won't send the DB with the game I doubt real universes are an option. I'm not sure how large the quickstart files are so bundling fictional leagues might further press their bandwidth.

The previous versions did not have a DB with the game yet the default set up was MLB...without the team nicknames of course.

I agree that a MLB type league is probably the best, especially for the new kids on the block.

I would think that the most convenient Quickstart option for most players is one that closely emulates the current structure of MLB.

The second most convenient Quickstart option would be one that allows the player to quickly setup a league that emulates MLB at various times in history: 1901 (as the last poster suggested), 1961 (expansion year), 1969 (division play), 1977 (expansion), 1994 (wildcard, three division structure) & so on.

How about a fictional league of 16 teams, including a full minor league system.
I'd say this setup is the perfect starting point if you are new to the game and want to learn the basics.

Agreed.

I'm sure you've already included this, but the real life landscape of professional baseball would be nice, at least the major leagues (Japan, MLB, China, Cuba, Domincan, etc.)

That sounds like a good plan. But if you want to attract more people, I think the other players have it right when they suggested a MLB type set-up.

I disagree... I think most new players would want an MLB style setup.

Current MLB setup (as close as you can come without MLB license) would be great. I love to play fictional leagues with actual MLB cities and minor leagues.

I also agree that for people to get their "feet wet" an MLB-style universe would be best.

Current MLB setup will be the most familiar to most baseball fans, at least the US fans anyways. Although a US/Japan quickstart would give the new user a taste this new version.
