Thumbs down Buffalo Sabres Fans

Sorry to make a broad generalization like this, but they have to be the worst in the NHL.

Yesterday, on the way to the arena, a carload of Sabres fans almost ran me off the road, then had the stones to give ME the finger. Saw the police hauling a couple off on my way into the building (later found out it was because they were kicking peoples cars!). Then, after the game I return to my car to find they've broken the flags off of my car.

Seriously, we've had them all here; Jersey, Philly, Montreal, Rangers fans... Most of them are fun to jaw with and good sports win or lose. But these Bufallo fans are just plain destructive.

Maple Leaf fans are very bad when they come here to Montreal. I had one shove my 12 year old daughter because she had a Habs jersey. I mean were the home team.. give me a break.

I'd have to echo the Laff fans being the worse in the sport, but examples like that make Buffalo a canidate for second. That's just pathetic, no wonder many dont' view their team with much mroe respect then the Ducks.

Being in San Diego when the Raiders come to town is no picnic either.

I was at the game they retired #12 for Cornoyer & Moore, the Leafs were in town & were chanting 'Go Leafs Go' as Moore was trying to give his speech.

yeah its a generalization, but its really whoever your playing...turns out to be the worst fans. I mean lets be honest, your going to get fans like that whoever you play. I've been on both ends of the stick up here in western ny seeing Bills games. When I go to a Bills game against Miami, my god I would think that Dolphin fans are the worst. When it comes to going into Buffalo being the visitors fan (such as a Rams fan) I get crap from that, in fact it was probably the worst game I ever went to the last time I went up there to see the Rams with my Rams gear on.

In hockey, I can say with confidence that Leaf fans are huge jerks. They don't stop drinking, they don't shutup when they're getting killed...in fact they get worse, and they have little respect for anyone around them before and after the game. But again, this is very subjective and general.

Don't mean to generalize?

Here's a news flash for everyone above... EVERY team has their share of complete idiots.... doesn't matter WHO they cheer for. Seriously.

So I guess if a guy walks into a store and starts shooting people while wearing a Canadians jersey all Montreal Canadian fans will be labelled gun toting maniacs?

Seriously... idiots + alchohol + sporting event = dumbasses no matter where you are.

Yep, every team has idiot fans.

Some Edmonton fans went on a bit of a rampage the other night on Whyte Ave. after the Oilers won. I just don't get the connection between your team winning and deciding it's ok to destroy things.

I probably since the days of going to the forum till now, so 84 till now, I cant recall anything bad about Sabre fans. A fiar amount actually came to Montreal games too.

Bruin fans could get rowdy, but in the end youd have a beer with them after.

Its true, it just takes one idiot to label everyone else.

I mean theres so many empty seats for Hurricanes games, its easy for out of towners to come in & buy tickets! lol!!

While true that doesn't mean that sports populations are completely homogeneous. While there's no proof which fans are bigger jerks on average, I don't see any proof that the jerk quotient is constant across all fan bases either. It seems entirely likely to me that certain sport teams have more jerks for fans than other teams.

There should be a poll about this.

Which city/team has the jerkiest fans?

As an Oilers' fan living in Edmonton, I'm embarrassed by the nonsense going on on Whyte Ave., it's getting ridiculous. I understand wanting to celebrate, and I know that 95% of the people there are doing just that, but that other 5% are simply showing up to cause trouble. I don't know how to stop it either apart from closing down half the bars in that area or cut down on the alcohol being served. The other thing I think the city could do is maybe have an organized party that they can control, much like the Brier Patch for the men's curling National championship, for those who don't know what the Brier is.

Got a tip for y'all coming from a Stars fan, bring up Brett Hull if you really want to get under their skin. Even though it was a legal goal according to the rules as written at the time.

A Habs shirt in Toronto? Well, maybe its because only the businessmen can afford to go to the 'ACC'?

Im actually real upset at the Habs fan who HAPPILY scalp their tickets to the Leaf fans. For some twisted reason I always to to see the Leafs play the Habs, I hate the Leafs so much, I have to torment myself of possibly losing to them & being there. (Its like me pennanace for all my sins!lol!) Alot of these guys DONT EVEN HAVE TICKETS, when they book their hotel & even get here. They simply pick up a pair from a happy to sell Habs fan. So my fellow Montrealers are partly to blame.

I lived in Calgary for 10 years & between 81-84 & while the Oilers/Flames rivalry was really fierce, I personally didnt see as much nastiness as other rivalries. I mean fighting outside rinks, bars ect.

Now when the Nords were in town.. WELL... that was different!

Yeah, sorry, it kind of spoiled the fun of an otherwise decent night. But I'll at least give YOU a break since you're a Braves fan.

Obviously we don't get a whole lot of Leafs fans down here, but I've never experienced or seen anything like this with other teams fans, at least in our house. Even at State games the Carolina or Duke fans aren't nearly this bad, and they've been drinking all day. Of course, they usually win, so...
