Bug consolidation after OOTP2006 is released

Let me preface my thread topic by saying I have no affiliation with SI/Markus/Marc, OOTP, etc. other than just being a fan of this franchise. (however, maybe one day. )

OOTPBB (enter version here) has one of the most dedicated communities out there. As I'm sure most of you know, games ship with bugs; it's inevitable.

As Markus/Marc have alluded to earlier today, post any "bugs" found in TRTR 22's post here => http://reports.ootpbaseball2006.com/...ms/team_5.html

When the official game is released, as each of us is creating and living out our very own baseball universe, why don't we combine all of our bug findings into a pool (a DB if someone knows how to do this) and Markus/Marc and the rest of the OOTPBB development team can sift through them fixing what is pertinent, etc.

Thoughts?

Well, at the end of it all, bugs will get fixed one way or another. Happy number crunching, my computing friends...

Going back to your original post, I think it's a good idea. Having a general spot where all bugs are talked about and discussed is the best plan. I assume that a thread will be made after the release. If we can all put our ideas together and brainstorm the best way to attack the plan it would be a good thing.

I would bet OOTP already has bug tracking software...the best thing for us to do is to report them on these forums until we know either a beta tester or an SI employee knows about them. I'm sure at that point they will be entered into their own software.

Does anyone have a DB skills? We could track them in excel... with column headings for "Summary" (a one sentence description) & "Description" (explaining how to recreate the bug).

Each bug write up would have to be percise and descriptive, to eliminate any unnecessary ambiguity.

Beta team will locate new bugs and Markus will squish them.

What Marc and Markus will want from the general public ( aside from getting all of your friends to buy a copy ) is speculative. I think they will tell their customers what they need, and how they want it, when the time comes. These guys are good about handling the paying customer, just look at was has been begged for in the last few weeks and been implemented.

Remember, a kind word goes a long way.

Much better, actually. Capone was speaking from experience.

I can add too!

I have ADD so no offense. But I will say this about your post. Usually there is a text support forum and I am sure that one will be made for bug reports etc. Someone usually has an answer or workaround to the problem and so I don't think we have anything to worry about. Also, Markus is usually on top of these things so I am sure that things will be fine. Your heart is in the right place, but I don't think this is necessary IMHO.
