Laseron Baseball Association has an opening.
The Baltica Phoenix need a GM. The current GM will has decided to step down. The league is currently at the all star break. The team is coming off a stretch of reaching the playoffs six times in seven seasons. But, now the team will need to rebuild. The current GM has agreed to stay in place until a replacement can be found. So you won’t be inheriting an abandoned team.
The Laseron Baseball Assoiciation has two leagues of two divisions each with five teams, for a total of 20 teams. It is set in the fictional world of Laseron. - The league has been in existence since June, 2002. - We are in the middle of our 20th season. - We are using v6.51. - Our entire history is stored on Catobase. - We sim one week on Mondays and Wednesdays. And we sim two weeks on Saturday. - The top two teams in each division makes the playoffs. - There is an $85 million salary cap and a $15 million team cash maximum. - We hold a Rule V draft. - There is no minor league free agency. For more information on the league rules, go here. ![]() Click here for the Baltica team history. Click here for the Phoenix' current roster. We have several active owners who help make the website look good and write articles. And you'd be encouraged to add whatever you can. But the only activity that is required is that you try to make the team a winner and you answer email involving trades. After that, the amount of participation is up to you. If interested please contact Eric Tozeck or Brian Barrett. You'll find the email addresses here. Last edited by Dark Horse; 05-01-2006 at 06:45 PM. |

Matt's leaving? Sorry to hear that.
I see some familiar names and faces in Baltica's organization. It's funny: I spent 10 seasons in Laseron, and after being away for 3 or 4, I still find myself hearing certain names IRL and thinking, "That guy must be from Laseron."Of the 10 million leagues I've been in, the LBA was one of the most engaging.

Neither you nor Matt were around at the very beginning but it feels like it... great, Great owners. Quote:
Stars Come Out Before the All Star Game Baseball fans, LBA officials and players gathered in Sarinelos the day before the All Star game to celebrate the league’s 20th year in operation. The celebration was sponsored by Super Colossal Sporting Goods. Originally, the plan was to hold the event at the Hall of Fame. But the response by fans was overwhelming and the event had to be moved to Sixth Street Stadium. The players were separated into all decade teams and, as they were introduced, they lined up on their respective foul lines. (Super Colossal dressed the players in special All Decade jerseys, which went on sale at the stadium and in Super Colossal stores all over Laseron after the event was over.) The players were given an introduction by broadcaster Neimann Ceest that included a brief synopsis of the player’s career as highlights involving the player were shown on the Jumbotron in centerfield. Fans of the different teams were put in separate sections together. There was some grumbling because all of the Northern League teams’ fans were put in the upper sections. League officials insisted that this was just a coincidence. The separation of fans made for an awesome spectacle as different sections of the stadium would erupt as a fan favorite was introduced. Over all the loudest cheers were for the Pioneers (the 1900’s team - Pioneers was the name on the front of the 00 team jerseys, with “00” on the back) as players like Red Vedder, Tim Huckleberry, Riley Gibson and Matt Cruise were introduced. But, by far, the loudest ovation was given when Michael Monet was introduced for the 1910’s team, called the Next Generation. Monet has won five consecutive Super Colossal SL Player of the Year Awards; and six overall. Many of the players appeared to be choked up as they acknowledged the fans. Many of those that seemed touched were among the Pioneers. Current career home run record holder, Jim Ohler, put it best in an interview before the event. “It’s nice to be remembered.” The most humorous moment was when Jake Loescher was introduced. The Rage contingent exploded with chants of “Jake, Jake, JAKE!!!”, which Loescher acknowledge by tipping his cap in the fans direction. After the Rage chants died down, chants of “Pretty Boy!” went up from the Geo Bahn section. Loescher laughed and tipped his hat in the direction of the Rock Hounds’ fans. And the fans there erupted with cheers. Also, introduced, with jerseys that read simply "The Future" were AAA standouts Jimmy Floor (Firun City), Earl Wright (Mist), Julian Stanley (Laserus) and Jonathan Reeme (Whitesand). 1900 All Decade Team (The Pioneers) SP - Matt Cruise, Tim Huckleberry, Mat Josephson, R. J. Huntington, Mike DuPree, Dennis Larsen, Mark Boulay RP - Joe Burford, Vern Noel, Dick Cosworth C - Bond Robospher, Colby Peters, Andy Cook, Risk Pelgrain 1B - Jim Ohler, Lor Pauley 2B - Cory Skeets, Marty Maples 3B - Nelson Resendiz, Buckshot Coles SS - Jake Loescher, Woody Stallone LF - Dell Bradley, Sev Nixon CF - Red Vedder, Adam Redford, Jamie Doctorow, Taz Sawyer RF - Riley Gibson, Chet Easler 1910 All Decade Team (The Next Generation) SP - Stucky Jarlsburg, Zaq Packard, Cary Plentac, Tom Feete, John Weisberg, Lou St. George, Kerry Blackthorn RP - Christian Baggett, Laft Kaley, Dennis Mort C - Clair Maren, Dillon Clark, Ty Krull 1B - Henry Steele, Led Culligan 2B - Roger Rhodes, Nova Aaz, Gabriel Goulet 3B - Zack Donelson, Steve King SS - Joe Turner, Catford Muuey, Ian Rafferty LF - Rocko Jestari, Herschel Pruitt CF - Michael Monet, Hooks White RF - Geoff Thau, Bill Duggins, Rom Lager |

Ah, yes. Great memories. Thanks.
Bondie Robospher winning the batting crown, leading the league in OBP, and stealing 52 bases back in '06. Summerwind went 52-102 with him; without him, we might have been invisible. That was the season I put Nez Wiltshire on the roster to keep Bondie off the prodigious range of substances he enjoyed. And, of course, Zaq Packard. Probably the best player I ever had in any league. I see he's 178-63 now -- pretty good career so far. But where's Mayor Kopperhead? I'm pretty sure he would have told you he should be on the Pioneers. A lock.

By far a top 3 league for me. A lot of great owners and the level of competition is absolute tops.

I joined this fine league 3 seasons ago as Summerwinds GM and I have to say it is the best run and most challenging of the many leagues I have been in. Definetely worth the efforts of someone to take over an up and coming Baltica team. They are in my division and with a little more time and right direction they will own the division. Come and try and take the division

This is an incredible league. It's been been nearly 4 years (crazy to think about!) since we started this league....and it is still as engaging as before. I have become so immersed in this league that I often find myself confusing the LBA's players with real life MLB players. The Baltica Phoenix are a great team to take over at this point because they are the rebuilding stage w/ lots of young talent. Two former big-time Erindel prospects are on the roster, LF Davie Rand, and 1B Frank Lujan, so I also have some attachment to the team. I also have an appreciation for Baltica because current pitching stud SP Felar Mearas (22-3, 1.04, 26 GS) came over in a trade from Baltica for the two prospects mentioned above.
Anyway...this is a great team to take over and great league to join. You'll love it!

Okay, we were lucky enough to get a former owner to come back and take over a team (the Laserus Destroyer). But Baltica is still open.
Dave Rand and Frank Lujan are 26 and 25 respectively. They are suffering their growing pains now and should be ready to reach full potential in a season or two. And both project to be prodigious home run hitters. And Baltica has the fifth best minor league system. If you want to build a team from the ground up, these are two good building blocks. There is one week left in the regular season. (That will be simmed Wednesday night.) Then we'll start the postseason. It would be great to get someone in before the offseason starts. Check us out. Okay, the Laserus Destroyers were taken by a former owner. Welcome back, Louie!
And the Baltica Phoenix were taken by a former owner, Welcome back, Pat! Now, we are losing one of our founding members. The owner of Whitesand Whalers is stepping down after this season. And this team is not a fixer upper. Check it out: ![]() Click each line to see reports. * The team has been in the playoffs for five straight seasons. (1914-1918) * The team is currently in a three way tie for the wild card this season and will begin a round robin tourney to determine the last playoff spot soon. See the Elos Division. * And despite their success, they have one of the better farm systems in the league. Ranked seventh in a twenty team league. * The core of the team's offense is still in its prime. (late twenties, early thirties) * And they have one of the best starting pitchers in the LBA. As you can see the owner left this team in pretty good shape. If RL hadn't intervened he'd still be running it. ![]() Check out the league here. And, if you're interested, contact Eric Tozcek and Brian Barrett here. As you can see, we encourage our former owners to come back. But we always welcome a new person. Oh I still do come by regularly, mostly to see how Monet and my namesake (who's looking like he will be a cup-of-tea guy) are doing.

The vacancy at Whitesand has been filled. Currently, all teams have GMs manning. We continue to encourage you all to drop in on our league. And, if interested, send an email to Eric and Brian, and we'll add you to our waiting list ad contact you when there is an opening.
Thanks for the interest and for the kind words about this league. |
