Minnesota Media Obsession With Duante Culpepper

I've been seeing blurbs from Minnesota papers reporting things like Culpepper was going to prison, he's a worse teammate than TO, or that he's totally washed up and a 2nd round draft pick was candy from a baby for him. While in Miami the fans and media are nothing but ecstatic to have gotten him and reports are he's doing well in his rehab and expects to play this year starting in Sept.

So what gives in the Land O Lakes? He's no longer your concern, why waste so much space in your papers speculating (or wishing) on his demise?

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports there is a chance that former Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper's rebuilt knee could keep him out the entire regular season with the Miami Dolphins.

Word in Atlanta is that the Falcons are holding out for a first-round draft pick for backup quarterback Matt Schaub, whom the Vikings would like. It wouldn't be surprising if the Vikings offer one of their second-round picks for Schaub or offer their first-round pick in the 2007 draft.

Why would they give that much for him?

The media is bored and have nothing better to write up as far as the Vikings go. Most Vikings fan don't really care one way or another about Culpepper anymore now that he's gone. No one talks about him around here except I guess the local sports papers. The Pioneer Press sucks anyways, so whatever.

Why would they trade Randy Moss for a bag of footballs?

Because the Vikings front office likes to make stupid decisions. See Randy Moss, Herschel Walker, and Daunte Culpepper.

Why are they obsessed with Culpepper? Because he orchestrated his way out of town. I used to like Culpepper. Not now. **** Daunte Culpepper. **** Chuck Knoblauch. **** Stephon Marbury. **** Norm Green.

When you're in a small market with dedicated fans and you want out because you think we're not good enough? When you turn your back on us? **** you. Good riddance. We'll throw hot dogs at you all through dollar-dog nights.

A lot of fans are still not happy about Marbury leaving. We probably would've made it past the first round of the playoffs a lot sooner if he would've stayed here and played alongside of KG instead of thinking he was the man. Marbury isn't a bad player, it's just that he doesn't belong running a team. He's better suited in the 2nd star role. Which would've worked perfectly here, but he let his ego get the better of him and left.

Oh, it's fine that Marbury gone. We got Terrell Brandon and the Wally pick in that deal, if I recall. I'm not fine that he forced his way out.

Knoblauch also asked his way out - partially because he didn't like Minnesota. You have to understand...his last 3 seasons in MN, he averaged .321 AVG with a .420 OBP, 11 HR, 32 2B, 51 SB. He won a gold glove and was a 4 time all star. He was the star player. We got value in exchange for him...Eric Milton, Cristian Guzman, Buck Buchanan (who became Jason Bartlett) and a pitcher we released. Still doesn't make me like him.

I suspect you'd have eventually liked Chuck less had he stayed.

I wouldn't have cackled at his knack for sailing balls into the stands...but then again, I don't think that would have happened.

I would just like to say that the Wolves are looking into trading for Stephan Marbury. No idea who they'd give up, but KG and Marbury both said they would like a reunion.

That's been a rumor since January. Doesn't mean it'll happen.

I didn't know about that until I read it in the paper yesterday.

IMO, all this Daunte buisness in Minnesota is a way for the fans and media to delfect attention from the fact they are going to suck...again..next season.

I hope Daunte does his thing in Miami. He has had to go through too much in his life already.

Yeah. I feel terrible for a guy making millions of dollars when he was injured for nearly the entire season and a guy that gets caught in a scandal involving strippers.

He has been through to much
