Will this game include Mound Visits?

Will this game feature Mound Visits when your pitcher is struggling to try and prolong his game & help him re-focus rather than just pulling the pitcher or hoping he comes through.

When I watch baseball with my wife, and there's a mound conference, she will either quote Earl Weaver Baseball: "How the arm? Arm's fine.", or she'll quote Bull Durham: "Candlesticks make a nice wedding gift."

There can be drama in a mound conference, and when that drama is lacking, we make our own.

I wold hope this, aong with bullpen warmups/warnings for both human and CPU teams would be included.

More importantly what will a mound visit do for you? Will vertain pitchers NEVER tell you when they are tired? Will other be honest some of the time? Will your pitching coach be able to give you their opinion with or without a mound visit? ...

Honestly I'm more excited about getting version 1.0 of the new OOTP out. Once it's working reasonably well I'll start begging for perfection and new features such as this.

Stall for your bullpen. that's the biggest reason managers go out there late in the game.

Yep -- SSI's Computer Baseball had this. A mound visit was equivalent to two at-bats in terms of warmup time -- very useful. Hope this is in (of course, assuming that proper bullpen warmups are in).

"Out of gas" and "He's in trouble" were other classics from EWB and EWB 2... I don't remember how these actually corrlated with how guys were doing, but it'd be interesting to learn what the determining factors are for a guy to say he's tired or not. Age? Honesty? The same would apply for catchers - would catchers that 'call a good game' be more likely to assess a pitcher's performance better?

My wife is the daughter of (you're going to need to sit down, Mal, at this point) a real-life professional female baseball player. What my mother-in-law didn't know about baseball hasn't been played yet, and likely won't be for another 500 years. It's taken a few years of study just for me to get up to Mrs. Twelvefield's level of baseball expertise. Unfortunately, computer-geek baseball and real-life baseball experiences don't match up as well as I would have wished.

I liked this feature in SSI computer baseball too. It is part of real baseball, being able to stall to get your pitcher ready. I hope this is in.

Hmm...Eleanor Engle's minor league contract with the Harrisburg Senators was voided in 1952, the same month that baseball formally banned women from the minor leagues. Your mother-in-law played baseball before 1952? Or perhaps Eleanor Engle is your mother-in-law?

And I *am* jealous. My mother-in-law was just in the Foreign Service.

She knows nothing about baseball.

My mother-in-law and her sister played for an itinerant team that travelled around Western Canada and the US playing men's teams for money. It was professional ball, but not organized. A bit like female Harlem Globetrotters, in that they did have some shtick plays to entertain the crowds when they got nasty.

She and her sister were 2nd base and shortstop, respectively, and their specialty was turning double plays while wearing, well, very low-cut outfits. I can only imagine.

She played well into pregnancy, and had some howlingly funny stories about how that worked out. Apparently, my brother-in-law's pug nose came from her sliding head-first too many times, as no-one in her family has that nose.
