Need review for MLB 2k6 (360)

If anyone has played this yet give me a review of what you think. I dont hold much true from "gamer" sites for baseball games. A few questions I have if anyone can answer are.
1 Is the game play really as bad as they say or is it the game is more realistic. And there for if you dont know much about the game your not going to do well. I saw a post by someone that said they got mad because they throw 20 wild pitches.

2 How deep is it really? One guy went on and on with how deep it is. I hear this all the time and when i get the game i'm like thats it, thats what was so deep.

3. And even though this isn't much to some, but one problem i've always had with 2k sports baseball games is, after you finish a season the rookies that come in are too good off the bat. Is this still the case or is it more realistic with development?

Thanks and appreciate any response.

Can't speak for the 360 version, but I've read on various message boards that the PS2 version is a dogs breakfast, and Sony's "The Show" is better. The only plus point raised for MLB 2K6 was that it is deeper than Sony's effort.

I've not seen anything good said about MLB at all really... Lot of folk seem to think you're better off getting EA's college game, or last years MVP. (Which of course on 360 isn't possible.)

here is a good in-depth review... they gave it a 7.0 of 10!

Take a look at the 2k boards. There are major problems with the 360 version. I owned the ps2 version. Traded it today. The Show is much better. It however is only on the ps2 and psp. MLB 2k6 has many AI problems. It was programed in a very sloppy fashion. It may be a great game one day. It is feature rich when compared to The Show. The Show is not flashy. But it is very solid.

The Show

Does "The Show" have a decent manager mode, or is the same no graphical crap that you get in games now?

I don't know I have not yet explored that aspect of the game. Read the IGN review. It's pretty accurate.

It appears that none of the new console games have a decent manager mode.

Grr.

If you're playing pre-1947 American baseball, then the All-American Mod (a namefiles/ethnicites/nation/cities file pack) is for you.

I thought MLB The Show had a graphical manager mode? Are there problems again with it this year?

MLB2k

I was going to pick up MLB2k6 but all the reviews commented that the fielding was all screwed up (along with other weird bugs). I decided to buy MLB2k5 for half the price (I have a regular XBox). I (basically) updated the rosters and it's not to bad for the occassional exhibition game to kill time. I don't know if I'll ever get through my season though. It's no OOTP.

Don't know about the new version though.

My first impression is that its way to easy to get hits and fielding is horrific. As Iplay more, I'll give you some more feedback.

MLB: The Show has a pretty decent one. Its more of a GM mode and its deeper than the manager modes you find in most other console games.

Scouting, Training, Coaches and Manager, AAA and AA levels, and deep finances are some of the traits.

I just rented it the other day, so ive only put in ~10 hours, but i like it waaaaaayyyyyyy better than MLB 2k6. This is probably the baseball game i will buy this year.

So, I just hit a 598 ft homerun with Ryan Howard...this game is definitely going back.

Good news! Tell me, what in-game options do you get? What strategy choices do you have in manager mode when one of your guys is batting? What choices do you have when you're on defense?

It would be one thing if this was one of many MLB games but Take 2 has the exclusive license. (for seven years!!)

No PC game....

Console games are a mess....

This proves why exclusivity is a bad thing not only for gamers but for MLB and the NFL as well. How does this mess improve MLB/NFLs brand image?

this is from memory because i dont have it fired up right now (i did wind up buying it).

there are different modes to play in, but if you manage only:

on offense: swing away, take pitch, sac bunt, drag bunt, hit and run, steal, pinch hit, pinch run

on defense: pitch to batter, pitch around, pitch aggressive, pitch low, pitch outside, pitch inside, intentional walk, and then you can set fielders in double play, half way, infield in, 3rd base cover drag bunt, corners in, wheel (for sac bunt), shift (for Bonds, Giambi, etc.), outfield shallow, OF normal, OF deep, OF shift left and right.

there are options to completely sim, play out every at bat, manage play-by-play and manage while watching (like watching on ESPN Gamecast or MLB Gameday, rather than 3D). this is all for the 'Franchise' mode, where you are the GM, owner, and manager of all three levels (Maj, AAA, AA). be forwarned that the business aspect is lots of work, but you can set the AI to handle anything you dont want to (training, managing, banking, marketing, scouting, rosters, etc.). you can play out or manage every minor league game as well.

there is also 'Career' mode where you create a player and try to take him from AA to the Majors and beyond and there's the typical 'Season' mode, where you manage/play with limited GM responsibilities.

this is by far the best console baseball game ive come across. ive seen a couple things that made me go WTF?, but overall its on track.

missed a couple things...

on offense: squeeze bunt

on defense: shifting the infield left/right has 2 options, left/right and extreme left/right (Bonds, Giambi, etc.), and i forgot infield guard lines and pitch high

It doesn't freeze for you every game you play?
