Leinart dumps agent: red flags?

http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9372948/2

Quote:
"I spoke to one GM who could be in the running for him," our agent said, "and he said it's this conflict running through Matt Leinart that concerns him more than anything. His arm strength he can live with. His athleticism he can live with. But these other things? He just wonders how he handles it when he's not in Hollywood anymore. He wonders: Does he really want to play football or does he just want to have fun?

"If there were red flags before, this is another one. People are wondering what Matt Leinart is doing. The last time I remember a player of this caliber switching agents late like this was 'Jerry Maguire.' It just doesn't happen. All Matt Leinart had to do between January and April was stay out of traffic, and he would've been the second pick in the draft. Now, there are all sorts of questions that people are asking."
If you were a GM in the market for a QB and had Leinart on your radar, would something like this make you take a step back and give a harder look towards Cutler or Young?

Nah, lots of "football people" are control freaks and would hate all other source of influence on players.

I don't think these kind of stuff would influence Leinart's football value, but if this kind of news is enough to make the control freaks shy away from Leinart, good news for other teams.

I know Sporting News didn't think he was the best QB in the draft. Maybe Leinhart's not the wonder boy many think.

Could be the next Todd Blackledge for all we know.

I actually think this is a pretty weak draft in terms of quarterbacks.

The top three guys all have question marks: is Leinart's arm strength enough? Is he really committed to football? Is Young's delivery and style compatible with NFL success? Does he have the personality of a winning quarterback? Is Cutler worth the hype? How much of having a losing collegiate record for his career was the fault of a poor supporting cast?

I'm honestly not sure I'd rather have any of those guys over Omar Jacobs.

LOL. Some people just can't resist screwing with things, even when they have it made.

This could be something as simple as Leinart saying "I won't play for X franchise, let's put that out there" and Steinberg saying "STFU and cash the checks of the highest team that'll take you".

Yea, it just sounds like he is trying to position himself to stay on the West Coast or something.

Besides Oakland or Arizona, I don't really see a West Coast team pulling him.

Yeah, the whole thing might just be about how Steinberg just wants to get the most money, and Leinart think there are something else more important to him.

I don't think it means Leinart doesn't have his mind on football. It's not like players who settle for less money just to be with certain teams don't play as hard.

Just more of the garbage that is spewed out from everybody prior to the draft. If all the things said about players this time of year was true nobody would ever get drafted. All GMs lie about every player this time of year, and ESPN and the others would have nothing to talk about if they didn't try and create controversy about a player. The key part of the earlier GM quote was where it said they were in the running for Leinart and this concerns him, he'll say anything to get everybody else off his guy. I guarantee that if Leinart is there when this GM X picks he isn't going to say well he fired his agent, he's going to say draft him.
