56 games?

Sorry if this has been discussed earlier, but I'm just wondering if any one has seen DiMaggio's streak broken in any league. I've never seen one more than 25.

The most I ever saw in a historical league without any weird settings was 50 by Hack Wilson

I just had 38 yesterday. Quite the coincidence! The longest streak I have ever seen in this game. Having said that, I normally tone down the offences in my leagues.

Low 40s is the record for me. That said, the AI isn't exactly all that smart when it comes to hitting streaks. It will routinely use a guy with a long hitting streak as a pinch-hitter or something, which just isn't done in real life. Thus, as difficult as it is to get 56 in real life, it's even more difficult in OOTP, at least the way the AI currently works.

Question for the math whizzes: if a batter hits .400 and averages 4 AB per game, what is the percentage chance that he'll be able to put together a hitting streak of 56 games?

I think it would be more likely that the streak is broken in a simulation than in real-life, simply because the computer player would not be affected by any pressure as the streak approached 56 straight games.

Ty Cobb ran off a streak of 44 straight in my Pat O'Farrell universe, which is the longest one I've seen. Buck Weaver almost matched it with 43, and Tris Speaker hit in 38 straight games; the longest streak Pat had was 24.

Pat had a streak in which he scored at least one run in 13 straight games, which seems like a lot to me. I'm not sure what the ML record for that is; I might have to look that up.

Not 100% sure that I'm right, (I think I am though), but I calculate the chace of hitting in 56 straight games as 140,154,516 to 1. Note that this is just the chance of a 56 game hit streak, I do not know how to figure out the chance of a hit streak of 56 OR MORE games.

Is there a way to find what your all-time hit streak record is? I don't recall seeing it in the Record Book section in the Almanac, but I could be wrong.
