Are you going to watch the NFL Draft?

Well, the NFL Draft is 23 days away. I'm just wondering who here plans on watching the draft. Either the first day, the second day, or both.

The main reason I ask is because I try to watch it every year just to get a sense of who these guys are coming into the NFL and who my team is going to have that I can look forward to being a bust. I made sure I have the weekend off so I can actually watch the draft this year. I had to work last year so I was only able to watch a few hours of it which equates to about the first 10 picks.

Also, since the poll can really only be setup for one question, do you guys get excited for the NFL Draft? Or is it just simply another day for you?

I'll watch up until the Niners pick, then check back every once in awhile to see who took who.

Aren't the Niners in like the top 5?

LOL, yeup. Which is why I only check in after that. Maybe if it's a lazy day, or I want to smoke and sit on the couch all day I may just sit through the whole first round. But I'd get hungry somewhere in there.

Seeing as there are no fewer than 6 potential 1st round picks from OSU, I'll definitely be watching the first day.

I'm not sure if I'll watch the second day, but I'll be watching most of the first day. By then most of the players I know will be gone. If I don't watch the second day I'll just end up watching Nascar or baseball or something. So either way it'll be a good and entertaining weekend for me.

Yeah, OSU will be one of those schools with a lot of first day players. They usually have been the last handful of years at least. Along with Miami, USC, Michigan, FSU, and Florida.

I was kinda shocked at how high C Nick Mangold could go but I gotta pat myself on the back for saying Donte Whitner would go crazy at the combine and private workouts and jump into the first round. Not sure if I'm on record as saying that over here or not but there were a lot of upset OSU fans over on the rivals.com boards that were saying he would be a 3rd round pick.

I had no idea who Whitner was until recently. He has been getting a lot of attention because of his workouts and most mocks have him going in the first round now. So it'll be interesting to see where he really does go. I'm happy for the guy. It's always cool to see someone bust their ass at the workouts and get some press and get a first round selection out of it. Whether they actually pan out is a different story.

Dola, I'm gonna have to keep my eyes on the updated mocks up until the draft. I wasn't really paying much attention lately because they were all saying the same thing. It seems they've been changing now because of the workouts and such. They have the Vikings taking Chad Greenway, which I didn't expect at all. Almost every mock before the one I looked at today had them taking a HB like Maroney, Williams, or White.

I gotta say that it even shocked me when I saw him at 16th overall in the last mock draft I read. That's ahead of Holmes, who I was sure would be a top 15 pick. I could have won a ton of bets about a month ago if I said Whitner will be the 2nd buckeye taken in the draft.

The latest mock on ESPN.com by Todd McShay has A.J. Hawk as the first OSU guy being selected. I'll list the OSU players being selected in the first two rounds just so you can take a gander and for those other OSU fans that are interested. I dunno if it's the same mock you looked at or not, since it's an ESPN Insider article.

7. Raiders: A.J. Hawk
18. Cowboys: Donte Whitner
19. Chargers: Santonio Holmes
26. Bears: Ashton Youboty
28. Jaguars: Bobby Carpenter
34. Saints: Nick Mangold

Not the same one that I read, it may have been Kiper's draft that had Whitner at 16 but I'm not sure.

That draft actually looks pretty good and it makes sense. I'd prefer to not see Whitner go to the Cowgirls and I'm hoping Hawk goes 5th to the Packers (I REALLY think he will btw).

If Carpenter falls past 28th, I expect Pittsburgh to possibly take a stab at him and if he goes before that the Steelers may take Mangold because Hartings is 34. It definitely makes sense for the Saints to take Mangold after losing Bentley. Replace one former OSU center with another.

5. Green Bay Packers (4-12)

Top five needs: OG, OLB, DE, OC, WR
The pick: +Mario Williams, DE, NC State
The Packers have done a decent job of addressing their needs at wide receiver (Rod Gardner), defensive tackle (Ryan Pickett) and safety (Marquand Manuel) this offseason. Still missing, though, is an impact playmaker on defense. Ohio State OLB A.J. Hawk would be tough to pass up, but Williams' ceiling is higher because of his freakish combination of size, speed and athletic ability.

I always watch the first round of the draft at least. Mostly because I'm interested and partially because it gives me ammo to curse Andy Reid and the Iggles for draft stupidity.
