Question about databases
I only play fictional leagues, but have always wanted to try using a database to combine fictional and real players. What I'd like to do is have a league that starts out fictional and then as time goes on, add some real players by importing them a couple at a time. Hopefully a split of 90% fictional and 10% real players. Is this something I can do with a database or is this not possible? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

you can use Pierre's importer, but it only works with pre-6.5 versions of the game.

This can be done and you don't need Pierre's Player Import Editor. I just did it on the "Free Agents" screen in the game, where it says "Import Player from Database". I imported Babe Ruth into one of my fictional leagues, just to see if you could do it. You can. All you need to do is download the database into your computer. One suggestion: be sure to import the real player in his rookie year...otherwise all of his career stats will show up on his player report and in the career leaders board. It will foul up your fictional league stats, if you import him in any other year. Last edited by Eugene Church; 04-05-2006 at 10:45 PM. |

Eugene, thats exactly what I want to do. Which database is recommended for such an adventure? Also, is there any way you could show a noob step by step how to do this? I would be eternally greatful.

If you do want him in a year other than his 1st year, just open up the batting, pitching and fielding files from the DB (backemupfirst) and delete all the years previous to the one you import. It's a nuisance but that should solve the problem.

Alright guys, thanks for the help, I finally figured it out last night after fooling with it for a couple of hours.
One question though. Can anyone recommend a good database with current players only, maybe with updated 2005 or 2006 rosters? Thanks |
