Main observations:

Rios should be playing full time. Yes, I know it's only one game but I've been saying this all along. Hinske, if he must play, should be platooning with Hillenbrand. You'd get a much better defence, and give Rios a last chance to break out. Going 3/5 with a homerun and his two outs being almost a homerun, and a hard liner to left? ...it's worth a shot.

Even before Rios' homerun, I was comfortable going into the 9th with only a one run lead. I don't remember the last time I wasn't worried in that situation. And Ryan showed why there's no need to worry.

On the downside... Goddamn Russ Adams. WHY is he at shortstop again? It minimizes both his and hill's weaknesses if you switch their positions.

Agreed with you on all accounts.

Today's game got me really hyped up for this year.

Since tomorrow's game isn't televised, me and a couple friends will be heading down to the dome to watch this one live.

Hoping for another Jay's win.

2000000% agree with this!!!! Hinske should not be platooning with anyone especially Rios.

Good way to start the season. What a bomb by Bengie Molina!!!!!!

7 2/3 from the Doc; great to see him back in action and looking as good as ever. BJ Ryan was lights out and makes everyone forget about Miguel what's his name.

Alex Rios will undoubtedly be the everyday RF before too long. As soon as Hinske has a ball bounce off his head and go over the fence for a home run, that'll be it for him.

I was at tonight's game. What a completely different atmosphere it was. It seemed as though the only time the crowd made noise was when Hinske hit... and that was just to boo him.

Kind of sad though, I really like Hinske... he just shouldn't be making what he is, or taking at bats away from Rios.

Good game yesterday for you guys, but seriously, what the hell is up with that field? It looks terrible.

Yeah, but not a big surprise that the crowd dropped off so much from the home opener. Hopefully when the Leafs are gone the crowds will go up in size.

Hinske probably actually looks forward to road trips.

It was good enough for Troy Glaus to waive his "don't trade me to Toronto" clause, so who cares.

That's because everyone in Toronto treats going to Skydome...er Rogers Centre like they are going to the opera. Try to make any noise in the Stadium and you will be told to quiet down.

And is it just me, but is playing Cat in left and Hinske in right a defensive nightmare? Poor Vernon Wells needs to run the entire outfield for any hope of something being caught.

Johnson-Wells-Rios would be the ideal defensive outfield, for sure.

Not just you. When we face a Right handed pitcher, expect to see horrible defense from this Jays team.

I think we'll be one of the best teams in the Majors vs left handed pitching this year, and maybe a few games over .500 vs righties.

Very. I would have pinch hit for Molina personally, but it worked out.

Jays take it 6-3.

Phillips with a huge 2-out, 2 run single, great start for Chacin, and B.J. Ryan comes on to close it off and pick up save #2.

I was hoping for Hinske to get the big hit, but at least he drew a walk to keep it going. Phillips had the big hit - and the shaving cream in the face - welcome to Toronto!

Chacin was solid and the bullpen was magnificent.

Bring on the mighty Devil Rays!

Yeah, but it is pretty tough to use up both catchers with a few innings left in the game.

Good news, Hinske is still hitless!
