2006 Cubs Thread!

I didn't see one these, so here goes!

George Bush throwing the opening day pitch at Cincinatti. A few minutes away from game time! Let's go Cubbies!

Opening Day Lineup:

Pierre
Walker
Lee
Ramirez
J. Jones
Barrett
Murton
Cedeno
ZAMBRANO!

I could live with this lineup all year, I think... I'd probably go with Jones a spot or two lower, but with his lefty bat it makes more sense to put him in the midst of righties.

Great start for the Cubs! Pierre triples to open up the season! WOOHOO!

Now, last year's team wouldn't have been able to score the runner from 3rd with nobody out.. lets see that change this year!

Would be hell on Zambrano, but he'd still probably be healthier than Prior or Wood.

RBI error? Is that an oxy-moron?

I have to stop reading this thread today. I'm recording the game to watch it tonight, after work.

Yeah, it would have been a sac fly RBI, so I think it's still counted as an RBI, is it not? I'm not sure.

Zambrano with a great start. Bases loaded now, Nobody out.

Dunn cranks one to CF for a sac fly. Everyone advances thanks to Pierre super strong arm 5-1, 1 out.

Whew! Carlos gets outta that one barely. It was almost a tie ball game, but it came up just short of a homer and Murton made a nice play jumping into the wall.. Whew! 5-1 and we're finally in the second inning.

Dunn impresses again! This time he falls on his ass after a Lee double... ROFFLE. There is no reason that Dunn should be playnig outfield... but by all means, play against the Cubs out tehre.. lol

All right. Cubs win! 16-7 final score. Not so impressive pitching performance by Zambrano, but it didn't matter as our offense impressed for the most part.

I actually felt pity for him. Trade him to an AL team Reds! He's a DH at best. I have to give him credit though, he took all the booing in stride. Very stoic looking.

(game's almost over now 2 outs in the 9th)
