wrong year on import?
Created a new season in version 6.5 using the Lahman database. Beginning with 1938, I notice that the 1937 stats listed for everybody are actually the 1938 stats. Did I miss something?

That is the way that the game imports players, ratings are based on the YEAR IMPORTED and it is thought that you will PLAY the game to get the stats for that season.

Sure, RATINGS are based on 38. But if I'm "playing the game to get the stats" for 38, why are they already listed in 37 on the player profiles? The manager of the 38 Red Sox didn't have the 38 stats to look at. (Which is one of the reasons I wanted to play OOTP rather than my usual Diamond Mind replay.) Why doesn't it list the 37 stats for 37 and base the ratings on the 38 stats?
Just to take an example. Jimmy Foxx hit 50 homers in 38. His profile says 50 homers for 37. It's a historical league: won't these numbers be on my career stats list? Why list 37 at all, since I'm beginning in 38? Last edited by papatomany2; 04-03-2006 at 02:04 AM. |

After you finish the season and proceed to the next season (provided you are in "Career Mode"), all will be right and those 1938 stats will disappear. This is only an issue at the beginning, when you import real players for a new league.
Edit: I think if you look closely, it says "Actual" not "1937 stats" in the player profile.

Nope. It doesn't say "actual", it says 1937, giving the 1938 stats on that row, then it says 1938, giving of course no stats as I've not started playing yet. It also says "1937 stats" in the drop down menu on the roster page.
Anyhow, you guys have answered my question and I appreciate it. I can live with it for a season, but if those 38 numbers listed for 37 stay with these guys when I advance to 39, I'll be back with my whiniest tone and most petulant facial expression... |
