WBC League Project

There seems to be a fair amount of interest in a WBC league. As soon as I got back from the first round games in Orlando...my brain began to churn. How hard would it be to create a WBC with the current version of OOTP? The answer I'm afraid is: ...difficult...very difficult...but possible. I intend to try. Nothing would make me happier than re-playing the WBC over and over again. I have also gotten hours of enjoyment from others contributions, and feel that is now my turn to attempt to give back to this community.

My hope is to create a league that is playable right after download. Complete with rosters, schedule (this is proving difficult), facepacks (this too is going to be a challenge), stadiums, the whole nine yards. This may be a bit too ambitious, but I intend to try.

I will need assistance with more technical aspects of creating this league. I have full confidence in my ability to create the rosters themselves, but am going to have to lean on others for help in other areas.

In this thread I hope to provide daily updates, post questions, field questions, blog, and generally talk about WBC.

At this point before I get to much further I would like to hear people's feedback. Is it a good idea? What things should I include? What pitfalls should I expect? Anything really.

Tomorrow I will post a list of "problems" that I hope to get help with.

This should be a fun yet challenging project. I don't know how long it will take, or even if it can be pulled off, but I intend to try.

Wow that sounds really neat and I'd definately be interested in it.

Am waituing for combo of 2006 and arod-garlon's new database to start a 20th century league. Could this concept of yours be something to combine??? Don't know how far back it can begin, but only want to use real life players, so probably not far.
How soon can realistic Japanese, south american, australian, etc real life leagues be formed??

Interesting concept.

Have added Venezuela to list of completed teams. Now it gets interesting.

The league I am creating is meant to be a "re-creation" of this years WBC. I haven't really spoken with anyone else on making it part of database. To be honest..I am having difficulties just getting ratings done for the more unfmailiar countries and player's. I won't be including anyone in my league that wasn't on the provisional roster for a specific country. So as far as Japanese, Australian, etc. Leagues...this set will be of no help.
