What Would Make This Game "Complete" For You?

I realize that there is talk and anticipation about a "role play" version of this game coming out one day (not soon of course). The more that I think about what that may mean and what type of game that could be, I can't help but think through the game we already have and ask myself, "what would I want in this game, that is not already there, that would make it 'complete' for me.

The truth is that for me, since the addition of the "auto aging" and the new revitalized Ranking system, I am really satisfied with the game. That's right no gripping and complaining! But for the sake of dreaming....

I guess if there were somethings that I would like to see added it would be:

1. I wish TBCB had the same type of injury monitoring as the OOTP Baseball game. The game determines the injury. The game determines the length of the injury:

If the player is just hurt, or he is "day to day" he can still play but he is only playing at a percentage of his skills ratings.

If he is injured more seriously, he can be out from any where from a few days, a few weeks, few months, season ending, even career ending.

I like the unexpectedness of how it happens. I wish this game atleast kept a record of injuries that take place in the ring. It would be cool to have a place or section on each fighters page that was called "CONDITION" or something where it told you their physical condition after their last fight and how long they would need be out to recover before training.

2. I know this one is not possible, but I would love to be able to import real fighter stats into the game and have them be a part of his gaming career.
Not by adding them on the stats page, but similar to the "Lahmans Database" in the base ball game.

3. I would like to control my own guys but have the AI handle all of the other guys and set up their careers. That way I have to work to get my guys title shots and carefully manage their careers. The way it is now you actually manage everyones career. It may be done mostly "autoschedule", but still you control everything for everyone.

I guess what I am saying is that I would like to see this boxing game become a little more like OOTP Baseball in that area. However, I hope it does not become more like "Inside The Park Baseball". Which is a resource building game.

I don't want to see this game become a goofy "buy stamina, buy punching abilities, buy new gloves that increase Knock Outs, buy new boots that increase foot speed, etc."

I hate games like that. They are so hokey and cheesy. What I love most is how the OOTP baseball game allows you to run your own team, but have no or little control over the others. That is what I would like to see TBCB "role play" become.

Of course, honestly, if nothing is added like this, I still love the game as is!

Anyway, Just thinking.......

How about you? what would make this game "complete" for you?

Somewhat, according with what I read and, as well, according with what I would like, the "role-play" game should turn to be something of a manager game, such as Football -Championship- Manager, OOTP or Total Pro Basketball; but then we may all remember we're talking about team games when we talk about them while boxing is a more individual thing. Just to add to your opinion the "buy new gloves or buy abilities or buy whatever" is out of place, at the most, you could help developing your fighter thru training sessions...then, you should have to hire the best trainers your money could pay.

Cool Catalion

I'm glad that it will be done that way (through training and the hireing of personel). The OOTP "role play" (Inside The Park) Baseball game has those goofy, "buy batting gloves to raise avg, buy special bat to increase homeruns, buy a book to be a better pitcher, etc. I really hate that!

I'm glad TCBC Role Play will not be like that!

"..How about you? what would make this game "complete" for you?.."

Everything I've already suggested in the Wish/Suggestion Forum.

Hey, that's not something I know LOL, but more a wish...and then, with the company that is working with OOTP and somewhat closer to Sports Interactive, what I think can be expected

One thing that would make it a lot easier for people to start a universe would be mass edits to fighters (ex. changing all JWW's to WW's) is a feature that would be nice. One way to do this would be to have the ability to import from CSV's in the same format that the game exports. That way you could make whatever mass changes you want (moving a junior weight class up, changing all fighters with career starts in a certain year to active, etc) much faster than you could normally.

This is the main reason why I haven't been able to start as deep of a universe as I would like to.

You can do this in the divisions screen with the "move fighters to another division" button.

I hate these threads because they make me start thinking about this phantom role playing version that's supposed to be coming out but in the back of my mind I realize it's probably 1,2, or more years away from release.

Of course I'd love to be wrong about it.

Don't see you being wrong about this. Realistically if they haven't started it yet, in order to do it right they'd need at least 1 year.

Two Additions That Would Be Nice .

for career mode, I would like to see two new categories added, namely "Aging" and "Frequency." Aging would individualize the new randomly-generated aging system based on the actual career record of a particular fighter--the default setting would be the aging formula contained in the most recent patch. "Frequency" would be a related stat that would determine how often a fighter would be available to fight. Guys like Archie Moore and Ray Robinson would be set to fight alot, whereas someone like Leon Spinks would not. These could be grafted into a career mode, using a random number generator that, based on the stats and some other factors (i.e. whether or not the fighter cut, KO'd, TKO'd, knocked down in his last bout) that would determine when fighters reached various career stages and when they would available for their next fight.

I've listed my wants many times. Thay've included things like having more ways to sort fighters, having more statistics, being able to track injuries, being able to isolate a group of fighters as your "gym" and track their earnings, etc. But at this point I've given up on TBCB ever going further than it has.

It's a great game as is. But I think we'll not see any new versions, RP or otherwise.

Maybe this pessimism is just due to me having a crappy 2006.

I'm as sure as I can be that there will be another version, and I'm pretty sure it will be a RP game. But I'm just as sure it won't be untill at least 3rd Quarter 2007.

All just guesses on my part BTW.

So I'll be...50 years old by the time that happens, if it ever does. Gee whiz.

Well, I hope you're right.

I also wish the injury model was a little more detailed.

The OOTP Lahmen's DB import idea would be great, but I don't think it could happen without a lot of work. It would be awesome to be able to chose a year, populate the databases with fighter records up to that point and start playing from there.

It is a fantastic game as it is so I can't complain.
