Importing rookies to a custom league?

I've created a custom league and tried importing rookies when the game asks at the start of a season, but it says "no real rookies found, generating rookies". I'm using lahman 5.3. Why can't I import rookies?

Only "HISTORICAL" leagues have rookie importing via this method the only other option is manually importing one by one.

Hmm..interesting, didn't know that. Then why ask the option to import rookies at the start of a season? Thanks for the quick response!

So I created a historical league starting in 1901. And I'm getting the same "no real rookies found" message when trying to import them a the start of a new season. What could be wrong?

which DB are you using? Also, you should be able to import real rookies into custom leagues that are pre-2004. Otherwise the option will not come up. However, you can individually import them from a Lahman formatted Database from the Free Agents page of the game.
