Apology to the board

In a different thread, I've let my own political views and beliefs become an issue instead of actual topics of importance. I'll probably continue ranting in that thread because it's something I feel rather strongly about, so maybe deleting all the crap that's been strewn around might not be a bad idea because this site is supposed to be about the great art of boxing and not a few pig headed people's views on what's wrong with the world.

No need for your apology -

You were making comments which were regarding an apsect of this game.....in regard to a topic started by Jim Trunzo -

The fact that some busy-body, do-gooder PC attitude fella...who just wants to cause problems and make issues...where there aren't issues....should not stop rational and clear thinking people from stating the truth....or stating what they believe.

It is crazy how much we are allowing a silly minority group of PC-types to make everyone change their behavior...change what they can think ....what one can say or can't say, etc, etc, etc.

There is NOTHING racist about discussing the differing color skins within TBCB.

The reality is those with this PC mindset over color.....are the one who truly "see" people as nothing other then a "color" from which a further determination should / can be made.

That type of mindset is the mindset of a true racist. Which is where most PC type peole actually fall. They just project their thought process irrationally on to everyone else.

While others (the vast majority) simply see color (color of a boxer within this game for example) as a general reference to anothers appearance....nothing more...nothing less!

I can't resist pointing out an irony, although it may involve beating my own drum. (Then again, it may also serve to correct a misconception.) At all events, I was one of the first writers in America to use the term politically correct. The term was so new back in 1989 (the shorthand "PC" had yet to be invented) that I put it in quotation marks.

Back then I wrote that what some of us were objecting to was a "one-sided view of the university . . . as a forum for dissent from American power, 'dissent' being defined exclusively in leftist terms. . . . [This view] should give way to the older conception of the university as a place for learning the specific activities that enable a person to think independently, rather than the political ideologies that permit him to think 'correctly,' if he thinks at all."

What's that I hear Chris muttering in the background about chickens coming home to roost?

Honestly David, you would have been a great stand up comedian. Just not at any of the establishments that I frequented back in my drinking days.

Relax everyone - we all are here for one uniting reason

Nah, those joints had cover charges and I didn't want to waste my money on such frivolity when there was drinking to be done.

Incidentally, I haven't had a stiff drink since 1993 but I have a boat load of bizarre stories that involve flaming arrows and dead squirrels among other things.

I just made a new post in my International Boxing League thread, if anyone's interested.

(Sorry, not blowing my own horn, just trying to put an end to all this PC discussion nonsense. It doesn't belong in this part of the board.)
