Silverman said that one option is to remove the "Devil" from Devil Rays after meetings with focus groups revealed a negative association with the with word "devil," the Tribune reported.

Because "Devil Rays" isn't bad enough.

I agree. The city is Tampa, I don't understand why all the teams down there are called Tampa Bay (Devil Rays, Bucs, Lightning).

I heard this a while back. Dumb idea. Devil Rays is a pretty cool name, but the team makes it look bad.

Of course, the commentary on that potential change has been interesting. A simple letter mishap and it is a nickname just begging to be ragged on.
