Minor leagues logo pack for OOTP2006
Several people have announced their intention to create OOTP2006 baseball universes that include the minor leagues as they currently exist.
Doing this properly, of course, will require a full minor league logo set, and it would therefore almost certainly help the game and the community to collect all of the minor league logos into a zipped-up logo pack. It would probably be a good idea to have it put together and ready to go before OOTP2006 is released. Any thoughts on how best to do this? Is anyone well set up to do this?

Thank you, but those are from select minor league teams, and only contain some of the logos. What I was talking about was putting together an organized, comprehensive pack which would include all of the major league affiliates.

As an aside, do we even know yet what format 2006 will use for logos and such?

This Excel file might help a bit.
It lists minor league teams, leagues and ML affiliations from the 1890's or so to 2005 (I didn't compile the list. Someone named J Webb did and I've since forgotten where I got it.) The file is too large to attach to this post so I've made it available here http://s25.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...510FGXOLW4YAJP That's good for 7 days or 24 downloads, whichever comes first. |

I have a current (2006) list of minor league teams with league, level, and affiliation data if anyone wants it.
According to Markus, the preferred format for the OOTP2006 logos is 150x150 .png files. You can convert existing .bmp or .jpg or .gif files to .png files using the free program Irfanview. Here are my thoughts on how could generate a full minor league logo set. 1. I could do it all myself. (This would be great if I had more graphic skills than a water buffalo, but I don't...but I could do it if I had to.) 2. I could try to persuade jdew or someone else to do a full, organized high-quality minor league logo set (say, a .zip file with subdirectories for each minor league, with the appropriate 150x150 .png logos in each one.) 3. I could start a separate thread for each league here in this forum, listing the teams in it, and we could all post .png logos there, and we could put the best ones together in a .zip file and have it ready for everyone before OOTP2006 comes out. What do you guys think?

Since there seems to zero interest in having a full set of real 2006 minor league logos in one pack, it looks like it's option one for me.

Most of the sites that I've found with logos have partial lists or most recent logos only. And the sizes vary drastically (from as small as 80x80). If I were pointed to a good site with quality logos that are at least 150x150 I'd be willing work on it some, though my only tools would be Paint and infranview.

Two others places I know of to get decent minor league logos by league are http://www.logoserver.com/Baseball.html and http://www.sportslogos.net/Site/sport.php?s=2

Logo Server tends to have logos that are too small. Chris Creamer's SportsLogos only has a few logos (in comparison to what we'd like to have), though they're big enough to make them look good at 150x150.I'm not trying to be negative. I appreciate you answering my question with links to logos, but I'm still having a hard time finding logos that I, with my limited tools, can do anything with.

Another place to get tons of sports team logos, including minor league baseball:
http://www.logoshak.com/ Just keep scrolling down and you'll eventually come to the various minor leagues the site has logos for. Quote:
Jason Webb (gohorns98 was his board nickname) put together that reference file after seeing the trio of history files I did for the AA, IL, and PCL. The file is indeed a terrific resource, but it's still missing leagues and clubs. I've mentioned this elsewhere, but I've taken that file and added more info to it. At present I'm sort of working with some other guys from SABR which will eventually result in a file which will be a massive reference file including spring training sites, team attendances, league schedule opening and closing dates, and lots more. No timeframe on when this will be completed; needless to say, it's a major endeavour. |

Guys, I will collect all the logos that are being posted in the minor league threads and put them together in a zip file that will be available for download.
