thanks Marc, nice Christmas surprise.

I did post this in the "gone for two days thread" but thought you'd be more likely to see it here...
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Marc, two of the sceenshots don't come up for me.

Team roster select scout

and

Team personnel Overview

both show an error. The rest though are making me even more anxious to get this game.

Thought you'd want to know. Take your time fixing, after all it is Christmas now in the UK.

Thanks

Latitude and longitude for each city/town in the database...

That suggests to me that those are going to be used in part to determine what time zone a particular location is in. That would mean game start times would be set in local time in the schedules and the game then adjusts that based on the time zone so that games around the world start at the right time relative to one another.

That'd be my guess, at any rate.

Regarding the national profiles:

Are languages no longer assigned to nations?
If these nations had leagues and teams, would there be tabs listing them as well?

Nitpicking, 's-Hertogenbosch is in Noord-Brabant, not in Overijssel.

LGO: Unfortunately, time zones often don't follow lines of longitude, as shown here. A solution could be to assign each city a time zone code.

i'm pumped that the overall rating is relative to each league, and not universal. That'll make scouting even more in depth. Awesome screen shots

All that room for "Health Status" on #38 suggests to me that you'll be able to see nagging injuries...maybe?

I have a feeling we'll need a FAQ about the Financial Coefficient though...

I really like the National Profiles. How many countries will get a National Profile?

Question

For the Netherlands, does that include the over seas "colonies" that have produced such talent as Andruw Jones and such "fast and wavey" talent as Sir Syndey Ponson? Or even the English or French or Spanish?
I can see the powerhouses of baseball.... the Chinese and the Chilean coming to control the WC of the online world.
It really does look like there is a set up for a World Cup.... will the Soviets invade in the 1970s and 1980s and claim they invited baseball? =)

I do not care for the national profiles.

This is looking less and less like a baseball simulation and more and more like an international soccer game. Not good.

O wholeheartedly disagree. I like them. It'll be nice to be able to find out just how many players from each country are playing in my league. Also, it's nice to have when you create leagues for other countries. Should be much easier.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

Considering MLB consists of only American born players, I wholeheartedly agree with you!

Baseball is worldwide, eh?

I think it is a nice addition and it is something I look forward to getting to play with.

You'll still be able to simulate MLB, so I don't see any issue.

World Football League? Nah.... baseball, since the 1940s in the U.S. has been a very international game. With the infusion of Latin players, joining those European who played before along with the inclusion of the African talent. Most sports have become a very international game, hockey, basketball, American football is getting there and even curling, no wait, maybe not curling, but you get the basic idea that these country codes are fun and give more reality.
Now, if Marcus can make it a little easier with pre-set data for cities to move teams around, that would be great.

I also disagree with the post that you quoted, spleenie. I already posted one disagreement, but I also don't think the game is looking more and more like an international football sim. Sure, with the new SI workup it reminds you of Football Manager, but the options and the overall look of it is still very OOTP. I am looking very forward to this game.

I think that the game is now truely simulating a baseball universe and trying to immerse you into it. Thats been the beauty of SI games for a number of years and I think it's great that OOTP is embracing it.
