Study on Importance of Batting Ratings
I did this study because two GMs in my league were very mis-informed about Eye being so important to winning games.
My study consited of 6 teams: Avoid K’s: All Hitters were 50-50-50-50-100 Contact: All Hitters were 100-50-50-50-50 Eye: All Hitters were 50-50-50-100-50 Neutral: All Hitters were 60-60-60-60-60 Power: All Hitters were 50-50-100-50-50 Also, I made every control factor possible even. Here is what the players looked like (besides the ratings litsted above) All Arms were 50, All Ranges were 50 on all hitters and Pitchers. Catchers: .985 Fielding, 3 PB 1B: .990 Fielding 2B: .970 Fielding SS: .970 Fielding 3B: .965 Fielding RF: .990 Fielding CF: .990 Fielding LF: .990 Fielding And for speed: (Speed-Stealing-Instincts, Bunt, Sac Bunt) C: 10-10-10, 1-1 1B: 15-15-15, 2-2 2B: 45-45-45, 3-3 SS: 65-65-65, 4-4 3B: 25-25-25, 2-2 RF: 50-50-50, 3-3 CF: 70-70-70, 5-5 LF: 50-50-50, 3-3 Also, Financial System Disabled, Minors not simmed, Rule 5 Draft Disable 1st Yr draft disabled, Coaches/Scouts disabled, Injuries disabled. All players were Normal in Clutch Performance and Consistency. All Pitchers were 60-60-60, with SP having 75 endurance and RP/CL having 25 endurance. All pitchers had 3 Holding Runners, 5 Velocity (88-91) and the same 4 pitches: Fast, Change, Curve, Slide. Here are the results: Contact: 2005: 116-46, 1st 2006: 116-46, 1st 2007: 107-55, 1st 2008: 103-59, 1st 2009: 118-44, 1st Avg: 112-50, 1st Notes: 4/5 players won MVP Won World Series 4/5 years (2005-2007, 2009) Power: 2005: 87-74, 2nd 2006: 86-76, 3rd 2007: 83-79, 3rd 2008: 100-62, 2nd 2009: 78-84, 5th Avg: 87-75, 2nd Notes: Won 1 MVP Won 1 World Series (2008) Neutral: 2005: 73-89, 4th 2006: 88-74, 2nd 2007: 78-84, 4th 2008: 83-79, 3rd 2009: 83-79, 2nd Avg: 81-81, 3rd Eye: 2005: 85-77, 3rd 2006: 76-86, 4th 2007: 87-75, 2nd 2008: 68-94, 5th 2009: 78-84, 4th Avg: 79-83, 4th Gap: 2005: 68-94, 5th 2006: 69-93, 5th 2007: 56-106, 6th 2008: 69-93, 4th 2009: 82-80, 3rd Avg: 69-93, 5th Avoid K’s: 2005: 57-105, 6th 2006: 51-111, 6th 2007: 75-87, 5th 2008: 63-99, 6th 2009: 47-115, 6th Avg: 59-103, 6th I had predicted it to be: 1. Contact 2. Eye 3. Power 4. Neutral 5. Avoid K’s 6. Gap The Food Chain: Contact>Power>Even Spread>Eye>Gap>Avoid's K's
