Mid Season Retirement & Returning from Retirement

We are entering our third season since using OOTP 6.5, however our league has yet to see a player retire mid season. We have also not seen any players come out of retirement and I'm not sure why.

And before anyone asks, "Retired Players May Come Back" is set to Yes.

The reason being is you have not had any players have career ending seasons at a young age. I just had a guy come back in 1933 from retirement. He had a career ending injury the year before at 26 years old.

That is what is flawed with this option. Very rarely does someone retire without an injury that is worth coming back, so the only ones that come back are the ones that are 'healed' during the off season.

So, what is going to happen when you lose your superstar 3B to a career ending injury and then the next year he comes back and is a free agent and some other team grabs him? Also, when they come back from the CEI, they do not take a hit in their ratings.

I guess this is what happened:

Doc: Son, it looks like you have a Ruptured Disc Back. Your career is over, I am afraid. Nothing can be done. If you play again, you chance breaking the rupture again and then you will never be able to bowl once you retire. You had a good career, you made 2.3 million last year and the team is footing my bill, go ahead, enjoy your wife and kids.

Player: Are you sure there is nothing that can be done doc?

Doc: Nope, I went to school many years to learn this crap, so trust me.

During the summer:

Wife: Honey, our bank account is down to less than one million. Will you go out and get a job or something, you can't just mill around the house all day.

Player: Damn it women, I have a Ruptured Disk Back, what the hell you want me to do? If you did not buy all that damn jewelery, we would not have this problem. Look at this, you must have 50 pairs of shoes. Damn woman!

Wife: Sssh, you are upsetting Jr. Here, take this card, go see this guy, he is suppose to be really good at fixing broken baseball players.

Player: (looking at card), Dr. Zagoochi, Voodoo Dr.. What they heck, what do I have to lose.

The Dr. chanted some stuff, threw some powder on the player's back and he felt like a million bucks. So, he got hold of his agent the next day and said, 'I am healed'.

David Bourne (http://www.larryhosting.com/1935/p4.html), returned from retirement and signed a 1 year deal with Boston for 2.4 million before being released 3 years later. He has not signed a minor league contract with the Cubs.

His 1st year back, he was 4-3 with 23 saves and an ERA of 3.60 for Boston. He had spent his entire career up until his CEI as a starter and he is back to being a starter for the CUBS AAA team, pitching quite well.

Just set it to "No" and everything works great.

Set it to YES. Then send your issues to Comedian2004 for translation.

In a league I was doing with myself, I'm pretty sure Griffey retired in mid-season and then un-retired in the next offseason, either that I just missed in the previous off-season.

That was a very bad thing to write, Fidel.
