OOTP Download Location - Feedback Please

I've noticed that since JoeRock has up and vanished, along with his coveted OOTPDownloadCenter that the community has been clamoring to find individuals to host the files.

I'm not very useful when it comes to file/utility creation, but I would like to help in some way as I spend so much of my time playing this game and using these utilities. I've noted that Jazzrack has started to host some files, as well as ootpmods.com being started up, but as MD has stated, these sites never seem to stick around very long, thus the files get lost.

I was wondering if people would find it useful for me to start a download site like OOTPDC and ootpmods and JazzRack so that we have several locations to get the files from "Just in case". I have lots of webspace that I never use because I just wanna be able to hold onto my domain names.

Let me know if you guys thing it would be helpful for me to throw something like this together and I'll get the community to help me out with it. Thanks.

the more the merrier I say.

I am more than happy to make my backup zip available if somebody wants to keep it for "safe keeping"

FYI. the files are just about a gig of HD space

I currently have 5 gigs of space with 40 gigs of transfer. the files would be no problem to host.

thats a lot on a paid host

I host the files on a server here at home. I have a 10mb up/down fiberotic connection with no bandwidth limits

I used to host a gameserver from here but when BF2 came out that game died off so since I had unused equipment I decided OOTP was a good cause

Anyone has space issues get a hold of me as I have 10 Gig of space and only use about 3 currently.

We can never have too many sites hosting OOTPB Mods and Add-ons.

I hope you will create a host site.

I will certainly use it.

FYI, I burned all of the OOTP Download center's files to DVD after Joe went MIA.

Sweet!

The problem with download sites is that they come and they go. Both BBSC and Halofan's site have been up for a while - BBSC for a long while - but they could vanish overnight themselves. I worry about permanence.
