NFL: Officials wrong on two TD calls for Giants

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2239970

Watching the game, I didn't think that Shockey's catch would stand. I thought that Toomer's was too close to overturn.

I don't think the Seahawks played well enough to deserve the win, but I wasn't sure the Giants did, either. Take one, or both TDs off the board and people are talking about a dominant Seattle performance, instead of thinking that they've stumbled into a 9-2 record.

I didnt watch the game, but I dont see how beating a good Giants team is stumbling to 9-2. Its not like they could only barely beat the 49ers, oh wait!

People keep talking about how the Seahawks didn't deserve to win, and therefore aren't a very good team. But, doesn't this game say more about a Giants team - that people still consider one of the top in the NFC - that should have won the game but couldn't? To me, that's far worse than a team that shouldn't have won but did indeed find a way to do so.

If it had been in the Meadowlands, people would be saying that. Homefield advantage is such a huge factor in the NFL that any team on the road against a team over .500 will be forgiven for losing, as long as it's a close game.

I agree on Toomer's...not enough clear-cut evidence to overturn...

Now, if they're denying saying it, why would there be trouble for disclosing the contents of a conversation that never took place?

Yeah, really! Think of all the obvious strike/ball calls that call be fixed! And managers can strategically use their trips to the mound and pinch-hitters to make sure there is time for the umpires on the field get word from upstairs that a play needs to be reviewed! It adds a whole new level to the game! Markus should implement this yesterday! Exclamation mark!

That is the clear bias against the Seahawks. One could hear it in the commentary during the game as well. People keep waiting for this team to fold - but they are not doing it. The Seahawks may not have 'deserved' the Giants game - but if not, then who the hell did? The Giants? I'm not sure a team that missed two pretty easy field goals to win the game deserve to win more. Maybe they ought to have won - but they didn't.

The way I see it, the Seahawks suffered through an inconsistent offensive performance, questionable calls by the refs, and a nice game by Tiki Barber but still won the game. What is so dishonorable about that? (aside: Dear Giants Coaches, Eli is not Peyton. Run the ball more. Thanks. Signed, A Football Fan)

It's not like the Seahawks were cheating or got a plethora of bad calls in their favor - they won the freaking game! What's the problem? They've knocked off two of the supposed elite teams in the NFC and all the pundits can talk about it how 'lucky' they are and then still put the Cowboys and Giants ahead of Seattle in NFC elite talks.

The Dallas game was a hard fought 10-0 Dallas lead late in the 4th quarter. Seattle gets their offense rolling and scores a TD. Plays good D, gets the ball back, scores a FG. Then picks off Bledsoe and kicks another FG to win. Ok... so... what's wrong with that? TD... ok... FG...ok... INT... ok... FG... ok. Yeah, those sure are regular ol' football plays and not some black magic hoodoo called up by the water boy. Seattle score 13 points in two and a half minutes to beat one of the 'elite' NFC teams. Then they trade punches in a pretty evenly contested game with another 'elite' Giants team. Manning and the Giants put up big yardage numbers on their last drive and OT -- get a few gifts from the refs -- miss a few FG -- then the Seahawks take the rock, go down and make a field goal to win. Ok, so that means they're a lucky 9-2? I think that means that they're pretty freaking good.

Seahawks were given that game by Dallas defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer's obsession with blitzing while he should be protecting a late game lead.

After being so long criticized for losing big games and choking, it is pretty tough to still be nailing the Seahawks when they are actually winning, even if it is not as stylishly or convincingly as a truly dominant team supposedly would.

The giants dont deserve any respect after they were down 7-3 at half to vikings after only giving up 5-6 yards then they end up losing the game without giving up a td.

Giants are not ligitamate playoff team

Cowboys have the east and the 2 wild cards are coming from the south

Then Dallas was out-coached? Still apart of 'football' and 'game'.

In the same sense that I could outcoach a 6 year old at the end of a game, yes. It's not particularly difficult or indicative of any awesomeness I may possess.
