What's the Best Sim Game Out?

I'm thinking OOTP6 is the best simulation game out there, and I've been playing it for years.

I've never really played Baseball Mogul or PureSim. What do these two simulations have to offer that's different from OOTP6? Is there any reason to switch or consider playing one of these? What do you think is the best simulation game, and why?

If you do a search you'll find millions of dicussions on that very subject. It's really a matter of preference. IMO OOTP is the best.

OOTP is probably the best baseball sim, but that's not saying much. Front Office Football is the best text sim.

Fixed that for ya, THE BEST text sim is "Football Manager 2006" hands down.

Re: What's the Best Sim Game Out?

Ok, but what makes it the best TEXT sim out there?

As far as baseball sims, Baseball Mogul is not even in OOTP's league - the management aspect is horrendous, and I can't believe that they never added back the play-by-play aspects they used to have in the past. Puresim does have potential, but it's not there yet (to be fair, it also hasn't been in development as long). And Diamond Mind is really for historical simming only (well, at least it used to be), which isn't much fun for me.

OOTP is still the leader, but...OOTPBM does need to jump a few notches, IMHO, because the game has gotten a bit staid over the years.

Total Control Basketball is a good game!
If you want Live Play by Play the EA Sports or a Video game!
If you want all the features then NHL Eastside Hockey Manager and Out of the Park Baseball version 7!

I have Football Manager 2005, and if 2006 is an improvement over the old version (and since it's a SI game, this is likely), this is about as close to an uncontestable truth as you're going to get in these matters.

My personal favorite is NHL EHM Hockey Manager 2005; what it loses in not having all the advanced features FM 2005 has, it wins back with interest by being hockey.

2006 isn't a revolutionary step up from 2005, but the minor tweaks and improvements definately puts up above 2005.

You can now give half time and post-game locker room talks which can affect players' morale (give to individuals or the whole team) and playing effort. Plus, there's now a "home page" for you where you can get all sorts of info in one spot (who you play next, your rank in the standings, your leading scorers, etc.).

So yeah, it's getting pretty perfect.

Maximum Football soon to be out by Matrix Games looks awesomely sweet, and I guess its not quite a text sim because it will actually implement 3D graphics! Unfortunately it's only a one man project so it has taken two years to get it where it is now. It's in final stages of beta and hopefully Gold by X-Mas.But I'm definately excited because it's a sim WITH graphics and you can design infinite playbooks, the usual player ratings+,all the stuff in any other Pro Football Game, you can also set up your league how you want it.even the rules,ex. CFL rules, NFL rules,Arena League, or your very own.
Here's the Link I believe,
[URL="http://www.matrixgames.com"]
You need to dig through the other great games they have to find it also there forums has some good info.
The community is nothing compared to OOTP but whose is?LOL

Chalk me up as another who says that, hands down, Football Manager 2006 is the best text sim evah evah. And it is a marked improvement from '05, which had previously held the crown.

This is why OOTP's merger with SI is just about as good as it gets.

I actually think SI blows and I hate to see ootp joining them. Ever since going to SI, the EHM series has crapped out

Thumbs up Maximum Football

I agree with kingpin. For years I have been searching for a football sim that combines the great graphics of Madden with the realism in simulation of Diamind Mind or PC Action Football for instance. If the game actually comes out soon, which I sincerely hope it does, I'll certainly buy it. Now, if it only would have real rosters from the NFL! Oh, well...

Waiting patiently by my PC, Echo Lodge

I believe some of Matrix's own game(s) development is nothing more than vaporware. Combat Leader has been in development for 4-5 years yet not long ago they decide they don't like the direction the game is going?? What a joke. Spare us and tell the truth. Really hope this is not the case for their football game.
