Beckett and Lowell for Blalock?

But both sources said the deal could fall apart because the Rangers are reluctant to part with one of their coveted pitching prospects.

The Marlins are asking for either left-hander John Danks, Texas' first-round pick in 2003, or right-hander Thomas Diamond, the team's first-round pick in 2004.

I don't know about this trade for the Rangers. Blalock > Lowell and prospect in 2 years > Beckett.

Thats a huge assumption, How many sure-fire pitching prospects miss. Beckett put together a very good season last year and has good post season expierence. But yeah, Blalock is >> Lowell. So I don't know why Texas would do this.

Nah, don't see JD pulling the trigger on that deal.

Really? I mean, if I were in the Rangers' shoes, I would not be so quick to assume that either of those TINSTAAPPs would develop into a Josh Beckett.

Probably because Blalock's hitting has regressed the last two years and was subpar last year. Blalock has never had a season as good as one of Lowell's best. The deal would be highway robbery if Lowell returned to form and Beckett kept improving.

I mean if they're reluctant to do the trade ONLY because of the fear of the losing the prospect, he must be pretty good. I'm sure Beckett is going to be on the downfall now anyways.

If Lowell found his stroke it'd be a huge deal

Danks went 4-10 with a 5.49 ERA in 18 games, 17 starts for Class AA Frisco, Texas. Diamond went 5-4 with a 5.35 ERA in 14 games for Frisco.

Hardly steller #'s there.... Not that they can't become something, but thats terrible.

Exactly. Blalock had something like a 600 OPS away from Arlington.

Since he's only 25, I would venture to say he's probably between 2-4 years away from a downfall.

Danks was 20 years old. Those performances got the AA pitching coach fired, by the way.

Man, I don't know. I know we need starting pitchers, but I'm just kind of reluctant to break up that infield we have.

Once again, what's the reasoning behind this.
