SI Forum - Apologies if this has been said

This is probably something that has been discussed but after 10 minutes of fruitless searching I did not see this. I recently downloaded the trial version of EHM 2005, and while it looks really impressive it is NOT very intuitive as to what a lot of options and settings mean (not hockey terms..but things like ratings masks and enhanced leagues...yadda yadda). Since SI does not seemingly have an available guide/manual (that I can find) I went to register on the forums to help become versed in how the game works.

So what do I see. SI will not allow you to register on the site w/ a gmail, hotmail or yahoo email address. WTH???? Every community has a few troublemakers, however if you block gmail addresses then you are preventing a block users such as I from learning your game, becoming a potentially loyal follower and purchasing the game.

Great way to treat potential new customers....sorry cant use our forums...good luck w/ the game.

Note, I am usually a very positive poster on any forum...but this just burns my ___.

If you talk to one of the SI guys on here they'll probably be able to help you out getting registered. I think you'll find they are very reasonable and willing to help.

Yeah, i think they allowed a few people on this board in the past to register with any account. So throwing a PM to one of the marcs will probably solve the problem.

There is a guide/manual included with the download. After you install the game look in the game folder and you will find a folder named "Manuals". It is quite in depth and explains the game and all its intricacies quite well.

I do agree though, being able to access the forums easier would be nice.

I'm on the SI forums with a Yahoo E-mail. I just logged on. Did they change this rule recently?

I'll be happy to push your account and anyone elses on this forum through. Sadly, our forums were the target of some rather nasty "attacks" and as a result we had to implement these measures.

The aim is that people use the email account provided by their ISP.

Hey Marc, can you please justify why you need an account to READ the boards?

Certain forums allow you to view without registering. What forum do you wish to look at?

That's good news.. I've been stumbling around the demo for a couple of days now.. While I like the game so far, I have much to learn.

I'm a member thanks, and that wasn't what I asked. I was just wondering what the reason was as it seems more than a little strange, given a lot of people first become exposed to slightly more obscure games via the message boards supporting them. (That's how I wound up with both OOTP and Title Bout.)

I second that. I see it as a way to force people to register when all we want is to paruse around and learn the basics...not cool to me.

Marc.

I ONLY use my yahoo e-mail account.

I am banned from the SI forums.

I have purchased several versions of CM, as well as OOTP.

No more, due to this banning.

If the loss of my business means nothing, then fine.

I'm similar. Reason being I've had my yahoo account longer than any other account, so with moving around and such and changing ISPs, I never bothered to use any of my ISP given email addresses and just stuck with the email account that I've always used (yahoo).

Although it's not stopping me from purchasing the game. It's just stopping me from posting on their forums. *shrugs*

Each and every account is hand-managed. A human has to approve them.

To blanket-ban ALL Yahoo accounts is ..... excessive, and overkill, and doesn't really fire up my motivation level to purchase their products.

I have CM4, and OOTP (several versions), ITP, and Title Bout Boxing.

I have likely spent more money with their company than 99% of all their customers....yet I cannot post on the SI forum board.

So much for customer service.
