Logo Contest #2?
Would anyone be interested in another one? Less teams this time so it doesn't go on forever
Let me know if you are.

Last time it seemed to take a long time. I had an idea that would benefit a fictional league (solo or online) and make an interesting contest that can be run 1 a month or so.
Here is how it could be done: 1. A league submits a application with a short essay on why they need new logos for their league. A panel selects an entry based on merit. 2. Logo designers submit their names into the pool to be a designer for the league, prior to it being disclosed what the teams names are and the league name to keep it a surprise. 3. The panel then randomly picks the designers to create X number of logos for the league. Example if there are 10 designers signed up and the league has 16 teams then we would assign 5 teams to the designer. 5x10=50 and each team will have 3 logo designers with 2 teams having 4 logo designers assigned. The design of the assigned logos are strictly up to the talents of the designer. 4. The panel then gives the designers 3 weeks to get their 5 logos submitted. after this time the 50 logos are posted and the best ones are picked out be the community, with the league deciding themselves which ones to use in the league. The logos can then be made into a set that can be uploaded somehere for downloading...... 5. League must agree to use the logos if online and give credit to the designers on the website.... I like this because it benefits leagues and it allows for a quick contest. It also allows the designer the flexibiltiy to not have to do every logo, just the ones assigned....... very challenging and rewarding...... Just an idea. I personally feel that a lot of leagues would like to have the great designs by this community in their leagues. Last edited by SandMan; 10-31-2005 at 02:20 PM. |

I think that sounds like a very intriguing idea....I'd probably be a part, time allowing.

Fine idea, SandMan.
I agree the first one took too long and kinda fizzled out at the end. It would have gone better if the designers were given 3 days to design and then a poll would take another day. One major problem was the exclusion of the designers who "cut and paste"...the logos were supposed to be original designs, which limited the number of participants. Some of our finest designers did not participate. It still was a very good project overall. I hope a project like SandMan suggests gets off the ground. When OOTPB 2006 comes out, we will need minor league logos, too. Maybe we can get the logo designers to start working on them now, so they will be ready come Spring...which is not too very far away. |

I like SandMans idea, but there are some problems; time being the biggest...plus determining who does what team for the league...some logos are easier to make than others.
I personally wouldnt be able to participate until sometime in december, and Im probably not the only one with that scenario. Although I hardly consider myself elite. and U-G (Eugene with a y in place of the last syllable) brings up a good point with the cut-and-paste aspect as I am one of the many here who is a"cnp'er".

I like Sandman's idea. Maybe we can get a little committe started to work out all the kinks and open this up to the public around December, ya know once school lets out for the break. This would definatley be a part time thing. The biggest months being December and the Summer Months.

Just let me know. Jaffe151 and jnshmoo would be great people to have on the coordinating committee. They both did superb work on the Favorites contest. Please allow the guys that administer it to also design logos, too. We lost some real good designers like knuckler and nmleague because they helped out administratively in the "Favorites" competition. Last edited by Eugene Church; 11-02-2005 at 03:56 PM. |

Count me in as a designer. My wedding pulled me away from the logo contest near the beginning and I'd love to try my hand at it again.
