Cato probs

Here's my situation:

I started a league in 1876 and have benn using Catobase since the first season and everything went fine for the first 7 seasons. I started with 8 teams in 1876 and expanded to 12 teams in 1882...still everything was fine after 1882. I play out the 1883 season and try to import stats and I get a problem with ltrans:

"Type mismatch
Warning! The following team abbreviations are new from last year. However, they exist for earlier years. This is probably not correct. You can either change them now or not." (This lists all 12 teams in the league)

Then I am prompted with a screen to edit team abbreviations, but all the abbreviations correspond to the correct teams already. I hit exit on this screen and then I get a run-time error type mismatch.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

I also get a "type mismatch" when reading the ltrans file, but no other message with it...

Did you edit any of the team names? Or delete any of the team names? If so this may be the problem.

what are the team abbrevations? I saw this problem once in my league when I added a team from Concord, using the abbrevation "CON", Cato would not accept that abbrevation and gave me a type mismatch error until I finally changed it to "CRD". I dont know if there are any other abbrevation combinations that Cato wont accept.

It's not that CATO won't accept them, it's that CATO won't accept duplicates.

Did you have other teams in the past or now with the abbreviation CON?

This answer is on the first page of the mods forum, where this thread should be.

My teams and their abbreviations are:
Cubs - CHC
Dodgers - LA
Giants - SF
Athletics - OAK
Cardinals - STL
Tigers - DET
Pirates - PIT
Reds - CIN
Indians - CLE
Braves - ATL
Yankees - NYY
Red Sox - BOS

Again, CATOBase ran fine for the first 7 years, including 1882 when I expanded the league. In 1883 I ran into problems.

I checked the ltrans file again, and this time I did find 2 retired players. I changed the =r to =p and everything seemed to work fine then. This really needs to get fixed in a patch.
