Question Catobase Import Issue - not the ltrans file thing

I have tried several times to sim the 1982 season and import into Catobase. Each time I get an error when Catobase attempt to import stats. It says there is an issue with players.cvs file, most likely bad data in nickname or city fields, around line 155. I have opened this file each time in notepad (as instructed) but I don't see any anomalies anywhere around line 155. I even went back at one point, deleted all the 1981 data from Catobase, reimported it (which worked fine) and resimmed 1982 (for the fourth time) and still got the same error. Any ideas from some of you Catobase pros out there as to what else I could try? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I'd say that you aren't using the proper exporter to generate that file. Seems like it was created by the one used to run BOSI. Are you using Cato's exporter?

Thank Treches for your prompt response. Yes, I am using Cato 6.1.4 only. I don't know what BOSI is. Any suggestions?

I see some odd symbols whenever the city sports a long name, but there are quite a few before line 155 as well. However, if the first season came thru that can't be it. Dunno, really. Lets see if any other fella could be of more help.

OK Treches. Thanks for your help anyway. This is obvously quite frustrating athough I have learned quite a bit about the 1982 season (having simmed it four times over trying to get the darn Cato import to work). It is interesting how you can never play the same season the same way twice as far as trades and lineups go.

open up your game, find Jack Clark and edit his nickname, it is too long. then run Cato again

That's the ticket! Thanks jazzrack!! I didn't realize what the field length limitations are for Catobase. Works like a charm now.

To avoid that problem I simply deleted all the nicknames from the database. Who needs them anyway? Not all players got their names at the beginning of their careers.

Good idea. Actually, I've about had it with Catobase anyway. I know it is probably the greatest mod ever created for OOTP, but the in-game Almanac is not *that* bad and I am coming to think that the 30 minutes I spend editing the ltrans file at the end of each season and other little import issues that arise from time to time would be better spent actually playing the game. So, I think I'm taking a hiatus from Catobase for awhile and giving the Almanac a second look.
