I'm pissed

Hey I got 6.5 when it first came out and seen everyone complaing, I asked people here if I should purchase it still and they said yeah so I did. Before I got into any in depth games, I skipped a few years about 2 times, I did daily sims. The game messed up maybe twice but each time I just opened the game back up and played it.

Well now I started my real game with the Yankees and I'm going strong, I"ve played every game and I'm in July of my second year. So I click on my game against the Mets, the game freezes so I open it back up and sim the day. The next day the same thing, I try to sim the game but this time it happens again. I go to re-open my game and its not there, all the data is F'd up and even my skin turned to the green one.

I don't know what happened but if you guys could give me a refund or something I'll gladly give you your liscense back.

No offence or anything it is a great game but I just put all that time and effort into my game only for it to go like that.

If you can't give me a refund I understand but I think you need to fix this problem

Seeing as this hasn't happened to the majority of users I'm going to take a guess here and say that maybe it's something you had running in the back or maybe the configurations you had set.

MY game dies a lot too when im actually trying to play. It really pisses me off, cause that game in particular my main man Brandon Payton stole 3 bases. It isnt enough for me to want a refund though, this game is still the sickest baseball game out there.

Does anybody have a sure fire way to prevent the gam from crashing when I actually play the games? Thanks for any help

Keep in-game sound OFF, turn off virus scan and any other non-essential programs running in the background. It can also depend on how well your PC is maintained(run defrag atleast once a week, keep it clean of spyware and ad-ware, virus', etc). I play out the majority of my games and cannot remember the last time the game has crashed at all, much less while playing.

I keep hearing everyone say

"make sure your sound is turned off"

I for one have had this game since the very beginning. I have purchased every version. I actually liked it when the sound came out, but unfortunately since installing the 6.12 patch it has never ran clean with the sound on.

Nothing changed on my system at all. Only installing the patch. Therefore I must conclude it is something in the patch.

If this is a known issue, are there any plans to correct it? Why have the feature if we have to turn it off to make the game work?

I don't understand this logic

If you're playing pre-1947 American baseball, then the All-American Mod (a namefiles/ethnicites/nation/cities file pack) is for you.

I do too... but I had a problem a time or two with it crashing as well.

If you Control+Alt+Delete and go to the "processes" tab:

End all the user specific processes (NOT the "system", "local", or network ones) except EXPLORER.EXE and taskmgr before you run OOTP and see if that helps. It worked for me... it hasn't crashed since. I guess I was running some other program that OOTP didn't like and that's why it was freezing/crashing.

good luck.

The "sound issue" is a known issue and Markus has looked and will continue to look into it but NO progress or solution has come yet. IF he is able to correct it he will.

In response to the title - Hi, I'm Dan.

I've had a few crashes in my times, but mostly when I've been stressing my system to the extremes. After doing away with the sound, I've only had one (in 6.11, if I recall) and that was when I had other programs running in the background. I'd recommend against running AIM (or anything else) at the same time for that reason.

Well again no offence to the guys who made the game but if I knew that I couldn't listen to sound on my computer I would of never purchased the game. I tried to sign up at the boards but had to wait a few days before I could post anyways so there was no way I could ask questions about the negative part of the game.

The sound doesn't add much to the game any way.

You need to make a habit out of backing up your league.

That's very good advice. Back up early and often.
