Recurring CATO issue
I've searched and searched and nothing seems to work.
I import 2007-2009 fine, then in 2010 I get a type mismatch error while importing my ltrans.txt which leads to what other people have stated... Quote:
Also, thinking that maybe 6.1.4 can't handle 6.12 transactions, I even deleted the duplicate entries that say Player xxx was designated for assigment, followed on another line by Player xxx was placed on waivers. Anyone ever figure this out?

You have a null character in one of your team abbreviations. To find out which one after the program blows up go into the html folders for teams and see what the last team processed was. Open this table in access and get rid of the null character in the file. I have seen this twice and both times it was an easy fix....

One more stupid question...
Do I have to generate HTML after each season, or can I uncheck "current season only" in the output and generate all 5 seasons of pages at once?

You do not have to do this each season, but if you want accurate winshares then you need to check the re-calculate winshare. This will also make it a very long process to rebuild all the pages, even the pages that have not changed. If you do the create after each season it will take less time. I had a league into season 181. It took 3 days to process the pages if I did not do it at the end of each season....

Alright, as one who is having this exact problem...I can't even get to the HTML generation. This all happens during the Import Stats phase. Thus, I can't check to see what team has the null value. Where would I find this value in the access file? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Shane,
If you want to upload your CSV files, I would d/l and take a look. Maybe a fresh set of eyes would help. Last edited by Hammer755; 06-25-2005 at 11:53 PM. |

I had this problem after my 4th season. Also could not get into html to look for null char. So I tracked it down(SLOWLY) via the ltrans file. After deleting the bogus year import out of my db, i removed ALL transactions from the ltrans file. Import WORKED. Ok so now I tried again, this time removing only the trades form the ltrans file. Again, import worked. Note: i always delete this year in question from the db when trying new imports. So I put my ltrans file back to normal, ran the import expecting a fail, which it did.
So now I went into my leagues access db made by Cato, and looked in the "Trades" table. The last trade processed into the table was on 6-10-07. So now I removed all transactions from 6-10-7 in ltrans. Import worked. Removed all trades from 6-10-07, worked. Removed all non-trades from 6-10-07, worked. ???? Now I was scratching my head. Anyways, finally tracked it down to one transaction on said date. here is my ltrans file for the date in question: 6 Tuesday 6/10/2007 : 1 Trade between Minnesota and Kansas City : 1 Kansas City gets : 1 P Rick Aguilera 1 Minnesota gets : 1 P Paul Daluz 1 Minnesota: P Paul Daluz was assigned to the active roster. 1 Kansas City: P Rick Aguilera was assigned to the active roster. 1 Trade between Washington and Chicago (A) : 1 Chicago (A) gets : 1 2B Morimichi Takagi 1 Washington gets : 1 RF Magglio Ordonez 1 P Carlos Maldonado 1 Washington: 1B Buck Leonard was sent down from the active roster to AAA . 1 Washington: RF Magglio Ordonez was assigned to the active roster. 1 Washington: 3B Frank White was promoted from AAA to the active roster. 1 Chicago (A): 3B Richie Hebner was promoted from AAA to the active roster. 1 Chicago (A): 2B Rogers Hornsby was sent down from the active roster to AAA . 1 Chicago (A): 2B Morimichi Takagi was assigned to the active roster. 1 Trade between Minnesota and Detroit : 1 Detroit gets : 1 LF Al Oliver 1 Minnesota gets : 1 1B Samuel Nieves 1 Minnesota: LF Shane Mack was promoted from AAA to the active roster. 1 Detroit: CF Mickey Stanley was sent down from the active roster to AAA . 1 Detroit: LF Al Oliver was assigned to the active roster. 1 Chicago (N): Put 1B Mark Grace on the 15 Day DL. 1 Chicago (N): LF Bill Buckner was promoted from AAA to the active roster. ~ The transaction in question was Chicago (A) Rogers Hornsby sent down yadda yadda. Tried deleting this transaction only leaving rest of ltrans alone, import worked. Tried retyping this transaction by hand, still bad. Changed the team from Chicago (A) to Chicago (N), still bad. Moved just this transaction to the next day, 6-11-07, import worked. Dont know the "why", just the process I went through. Also the actual html is in the ltans file, just dont know how to turn off html in this post. Question: Does Cato need the call up/send down transactions at all? |

I had this problem recently. I was simming the 1885 season and had decided to turn on "Sim Minor Leagues". That's when I got the error. So I went back and resimmed the season without simming the minors and had no problem. Not sure where the error lies, but that could be one place.

Hammer755 mentioned in another thread that records with r# instead of p# in the ltrans file could cause problems. This was my exact problem with my league.
Rogers Hornsby was listed as r1360.html in my ltrans file. There were a total of 4 transactions with Hornsby in my ltrans, yet only the one dated on 6-10-07 was causing the bork. |

So what do you do with the lines containing r# instead of p#? Delete them?

Prior to importing the league into CATOBASE you will need to open the ltrans.txt file in your league folder and add a blank line between the trade transactions and the regular transactions. With players that retired you can not just change the r### to a p###. The r number is sequential. So if player p49 was the first to retire in your league his number would be r1. You would need to get the correct p number and change it to this number. It will process changing the r to a "p" but it will not be for the right player..... |
