Random crashes with 6.5

I continue to get random crashes since I switched to 6.5. I have turned off all in game sound and that seemed to fix most of the problem. But the random ootp65.exe has encountered an error and must close are still happening way to often. I have reinstalled once and that didn't fix it. Anyone have any other ideas. The game is too awesome for me to give up on it now.

Also is there a fix coming, or something I can do to play with the sound on?

I am having this problem as well. I go to sim the entire season and the game just crashes and most of the time I lose the season stats. I hope there is a patch coming that will fix this issue.

We need LOTS more info inorder to try an locate the problem, I am not aware of any tester who had/have the issue. We need league type, size, ANYTHING unusual or different about it, PC specs, etc...

I started a fictional league and wanted to sim about 50 years to get a history before I jump in and take over a team. I usually only sim 1 year at a time so I can see the results and see who the future HoF players are. When I go to sim the year this error message appears:

Runtime Error!
Program: ...mfiles\out of the park developments\ootp 6.5\ootp65.exe

This application has requested Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

All I am doing is simming the entire year without stopping before the playoffs, the game is minimized on my taskbar. After this message I hit OK and restart the game and most of the time ALL my player stats are GONE but the standings still show there have been games played. I have defragged my hard drive but these messages still appear.

I have turned off all sounds and animation menus but the game still gets the runtime error. I am running a P4 1.8 with 1 GB RAM and a 256MB Video Card on Windows XP. There is pleanty of hard drive space (somthing like 68 GB free) and I am using the external brouser.

Well, can't help you there other than throwing in the usual "try reinstalling and installing it in a different folder".

I experienced crashes as well.

Testing the new file, I imported my online league today (6.12), ran the playoffs and attempted to flip to next season. When generating report the system crashed, indicating the application had to close and asked if I wanted to send a report.

In addition, as soon as I imported my my league to 6.5 I received a run time error. Is there compatibility problems with XP? I never experience any such problems with 6.12, these are brand new errors.

We're anticipating flipping for the next season but are hesitant to do so if the SIM will continue to crash. Please help!!

Thanks

I only sim 1 year at a time since I want to look at what happened at the end of each season. I reinstalled the game and was able to sim an entire year without a crash (knock on wood). I am about to start year 2 and see what happens. Now I am just trying to figure out Catobase

I have a manager mode franchise that I started with OOTP6 in 1993 and am currently in 2031.

It is based off of MLB in 1993 to start (I forget how I started, maybe just a dump from the Lahman database) and have run it with no problems until I switched to 6.5

After every game I get the box score (per usual) and then it crashes on me. When I don't have a game, it crashes when I sim that particular day. So basically, it crashes at the end of each game/day.

Not liking this very much at all.

My crashes started as freeze ups. I moved a league from 6.12 to 6.5 and am managing Atlanta aginst all other computer managers. I am Siming the month of July and on the 17th the game froze on the Atlanta vs Mets game. I've checked rosters and transactions and every thing seem ok. Sound is off. I tried siming that game individually and nothing happens. I tried playing the game and siming from there and it freezes up in the middle of the game. Unless I get past htis my league is shot. HELP!!!

Contuation from above...I got through the Braves vs Mets game by going to the schedule and playing the game. Once there I simmed one inning at a time and got throught the game that way. I then began simming week by week and it finally froze up again on the 29th of July. I looked at the schedule and it is stuck on the Atlanta/ Pittsburg game. Remember, Atlanta is my team. I can't figure it out but it's not worth doing at this rate. I'm 15 years into this league and I could start a new league but from what I see on this forum the crashes and freezes are still going on. Hope something can be done.
I have a DELL with an Intel 3.2 chip with 1 gig of RAM, a big machine, and have never had this problem before.
