Draft Overhaul
A thousand apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I looked around and couldn't find much on it.
What would make me more happy than anything else in OOTP7 would be to see the draft system work as it does in real life. There's an informative article here which details how it works, but I'd like to briefly break it down and explain why it's so important. Free Agents in MLB are divided into Types A, B, C. When a team offers arbitration to one of these players and they sign with another team instead OR they sign with another team before the arbitration period begins, the team that lost them gets compensation. For Type A FA losses, the team gets either the signee-teams 1st or 2nd round draft pick and a pick in a "Supplemental" 1st round which occurs after the first round ends. A Type B loss results in getting their 1st round pick but no supp, and a Type C results in just a supp pick in the 2nd round. This is very, very important, imho. This really affects the future of teams. The A's, for example, tend to let go of their superstarts when they enter they become FA's, and the reason they can do this is because of the sheer number of draft picks they get. The Giants, on the other hand, had their first pick in the 4th round because they signed Benitez, Vizquel, and Matheny before the arbitration period. The Cards this year had 4 picks in the 1st round - 2 of them normal, 2 in the 1st Supplemental. Finally (I feel like I'm making a sales pitch here), the following are a few 1st round supplement picks in the past: Beltran, Jeff Weaver, Jerome Williams, Bobby Crosby, Randy Wolf, Adam Dunn. It'd be pretty sweet to have this in OOTP.

A few problems with this idea...
#1. OOTP and MLB aren't comparable in terms of the amateurs available, number of draft rounds and number of minor league teams. Because of this the value of a pick is entirely different. #2. The MLB system isn't that great, and in fact there is a lot of talk about overhauling the compensation system. Just have a look at Boston this year. Some kind of system would be nice, but comparing MLB and OOTP isn't the way to go about it IMO.

I'd love to see something like this as an option, but I'd also like to keep the small, simple drafts as an option for when I run smaller leagues.

NHL Eastside Hockey Manager doesn't have the draft last 2 days like in real life maybe version 7 will have it and this option Trades allowed in the draft because let say the Yankees want to add picks so they can re fill their minor league system with Prospects they can by either trading a higher pick to aquire more picks or somebody off their MLB Roster or a non Prospect! How about it ESPN Style!

On the last setup screen if you change the rounds in the drafted to let say 50 then when the College Draft comes up you get to draft 50 people!
I know this doesn't belong in this section but I will post it here I have division with just 2 teams in it Seattle and Arizona and haven't goten an error yet and also my team the Cardinals sent down Reggie Sanders and E. Diaz at the start of the season |

Sometimes being realistic isn't the best way to be fun. This might be one of those times.
