Yes. Sacrifices are figured negatively into OBP and not at all in Avg.

OBP: On Base Percentage. Determines what percentage of a player's plate appearances resulted in him reaching base safely. Calculated by adding hits (H) & base on balls (BB) & hit by pitch (HBP) then dividing that by the player's at-bats (AB) & base on balls (BB) & sacrifice fly (SF) and hit by pitch (HBP).

Yes, exactly why I'd take the high average guy over the onbase guy every time too.

The only person i know of doing this over any real length of time is Mariano Duncan in 1995. 196 AB, .286 BA, .285 OBP.

So was Luis Rivas from the Twins, until he got his first two walks.

I believe Soriano was doing it with the Yankees or close to it when he was first brought up.

The strangest part was...
Earned first career win on 5/23/2013...
For being a 1st baseman to earn a win. I'm not positive, but IRL i think only 1 or 2 regular position players ever earned a win as a pitcher. just my 2 cents Wildcat31 |

Didn't the A's pull off this amazing feat in the playoffs back in the late 80's/early 90's for a season?
