I've watched the YT video enough. March 24th is just over 1 month one way, yet only 29 days the other.

Let me know when you guys have an announcement saying you've fixed player development. I've seen enough drafts with 80 ceiling players left at the 20th pick for one lifetime.

In my experience, a vast majority of players with that potential don't live up to it.

Correct. We should never pressure the development team to, ya know, develop the game.
Player development is broken. Way too many MLB-ready players come out of college. Also, what used to be a perfectly fun model of stochastic variation in veteran talent change back in OOTP 21 is now just random noise. It's bad. They need to fix it. |

Every. Single. Year.
Guess you just can't make them all happy. 23 has been great to me. 24 will be even better! Its been an amazing run. Blows my mind that its been 20+ years and this game is still going strong. Same amazing game. Best community in the gaming world!

I have no idea what you're talking about. So many variations in league settings can influence player dev, and at this point I'm only an online player. But I don't experience anything like what you're describing in any of my leagues. |

If anything the game isn’t random enough with younger players. It’s not because, well, people who don’t understand the game come in and complain that it’s “not realistic” when entire draft classes seem to bust, and then the devs respond by lightening up the random chance.

This literally has nothing to do with my point. The game generates far too many guys who are not just MLB-ready on day one out of college but are All-Star caliber. I don't mean in terms of the scouting meter saying something that doesn't pan out. I mean the scouting meter says it, and then the projection absolutely pans out. It breaks the game. I have spent months feeling like I'm on crazy pills every time I bring this topic up. Is everyone else seriously okay with how player development fosters multiple Strasburg-grade college players each draft??? There's a reason Nats fans called it Strasmas when it happen. It isn't supposed to happen all the time, and it should never happen multiple times in a single draft. Even if everyone is, it would be nice to have a knob in the settings that would put development back where it was around OOTP 20 or 21 or so. The last two versions have been nuts. OOTP 22 got to tolerable by the last few revisions. OOTP 23 has just been beyond overboard. It ruins the experience. I've bought the game on release day for years because I believe in supporting its development. (And we all know that means paying to be beta testers.) This is the first year I'm not doing it. It needs fixed. Last edited by mrpoopistan; 02-23-2023 at 10:33 PM. |

Do you have your scouting setting relative to MLB, or the current league?
