I'm wondering if Paul Norman has passed on or just given up. I sent him an email a while back and never got a response. Not sure if the beta testing team is still working or if they've heard anything from the programmer.
Sure looks like there won't be anything coming from Mr. Norman. This game is verging on the archaic and it would take a new owner with money to burn to resurrect it. Don't see that happening. Too bad. So many missed opportunities to capitalize on the increased popularity of the sport which may now be waning. Cap

Hey Cap, how are you? I think this is an end of an era.

Most likely. I'm fine. Enjoying the relative sanity of living in Canada. Sometimes though, it seems like the forces of darkness are seeping into our society, particularly from ultra right factions who would have faded on the vine if not for social media.
Thank God for company pension and our CPP/OAS monthly deposits. Life is getting expensive, but a lot of people in this world have it so much worse than us. Cap

Amen to that. I am savoring every moment of peace and prosperity. It would seem like their days are numbered. People are bent on destroying what we have believing they are saving it. Lies become truths and truths are neglected. All of this From Russia with Love.

I often think about the old gang and the fun we had with this game. It seems the only constant in life is change.

It's this group that has kept the game alive over the years.

Yes we were part of the core group of players. We all have that fervent love for the sweet science. But it looks like that will be ending if there is no new release planned and I doubt there is. The last offering I saw was a couple of years back when they introduced a version for the tablet. I bought it, and two years later it stopped working, and there is no support. I think our group was and is thinning out as members pass away or perhaps lose interest.

There are other options too. Title Bout II, Legends of Boxing, and even Glory Days boxing is thinking of a computer version.

I'm not much of a fan of Title Bout II, but Glory Days and Legends of Boxing are solid. I'm still a fan of the original title bout.

Hi fellas,
Greetings from Accra, Ghana! I hope you all are well. It's a shame that no one is communicating with the forum regarding 2.5 or 2013. I have my thoughts and opinions in regard to that but they are grounded in frustration and so it is probably best to leave these things unstated. I will continue to wait and hope that there will be an announcement at some point but until then I am focused on alternatives. For those of you who are awaiting a computer release of GDB, there is a Vassal version of Glory Days Boxing available right now. You would need to go to Facebook and join the Glory Days Games Public Group on for information on how to access that. You can do that here. https://web.facebook.com/groups/343879306330699 Also, Title Bout II, programmed by Bill Salm, is now bug-free and working great. There are not as many fighters available for the game as there is for 2.5 but there is a rating book for anyone who would be interested in adding fighters to the game. It's a lot of work but worth it. It took me a while but I was able to create a card for Dwight Davison. You can join the Facebook Community here. https://web.facebook.com/groups/301541647019560 The unfortunate thing about TBII computer version is that it is difficult to institute house rules. But other than that, it is true to the boardgame version. There is so much talent and experience over here in this forum and while I may not say a lot, I am always reading and learning from you guys. I appreciate all of the work that this forum has put into 2.5. If it weren't for you, the game would have died a long time ago. I still play 2.5 with the updated ratings, and I ocassionally use 2.5 ratings to assist me in fighter card creation for TB II as well. I do hope that you will consider coming over to the Facebook group and sharing your knowledge and experience with us over there. It would be such an honor to have you. Most Peace and Utmost Respect, Mohammad |

Paul
Has anyone heard from him lately? When was the last time he gave anything close to an update?

I wonder if anyone on the beta test team has heard anything from him?

Surely anyone who was on the beta testing team is no longer subject to an NDA as there is no new game coming out and they should be able to speak freely about what did (or did not) go on?

I am very disappointed that the OOTP team has let this just die a miserable death. My feeling is a couple of the baseball and hockey wizards could have gotten something playable in about a month's time. IMHO.

The baseball and hockey teams were never really a part of this. There was one developer who worked on this and he got bored or busy and just kind of stopped. It sucks but it is what it is.

Someone at OOTP made the decision to hand Title Bout over to Paul Norman. I'm guessing it was due in part to their having reached the conclusion that the software as it existed could no longer evolve. I recall Andreas (the force behind TB 2.5) saying that a career option wasn't feasible with the software they had....or something like that. The game would have to be rebuilt from scratch...which is what Paul Norman proposed. His efforts produced TB2013.
