Marginal pitcher, but spent the better part of 14 seasons in the majors as SP and MR:

BOOG BOE

Great name.

Of course, James James (RF) was funny, too, not to mention accumulating 2,700 career hits!

For some reason, Enrique Enriquez makes me giggle more than the double-named guys.

I now have a right fielder named Timothy McVeigh.

An actual real live St. Louis Cardinal left fielder has the name "Juan De Dios Encarnacion."

My daughter, the Spanish language expert, says it loosely translates to "John the Incarnation of God."

Heavy...very heavy.

I'm a lucky man. One of the more amazing things about being married to her is that other people will meet her and then pull me aside and say something to me along the lines of what you just wrote.

My mother, on the other hand, never really liked her because she wasn't a Cardinal fan and wouldn't become one.

Back to names, the subject at hand, don't forget to use the link at the bottom of my .sig and to get the replacment name file set and then use it in OOTP. It's so much better than the original that there is no comparison and I am not pulling your chain when I tell you that. The Japanese name file set and the Latin name file sets are the best ever compiled, and the main name set is a major, major improvement.

I'm reminded today of a player the AI once lost to CEI before he made the show: Valentine "Big Hurt" Day. No joke, I remember seeing him in the FA pool and giving a very hard thought toward bringing him back. I believe it was bone chips, though, not a broken heart...

In a hybrid 1989 league, with Dwight Gooden still pitching for the Mets, a new teenaged fireballing five-star pitching prospect has just appeared, and his name is...

Dwight Goodrich.

I either have to trade him to the Mets or trade for Gooden, one or the other.

http://www.dirtysportz.com/ootp/p1191.html Our league's funniest name. "The Catcher with the Crystal Balls" is a little long for a nickname though. I'd love to sign him just so I could yell out before every game "Don't forget to wear your cup behind the plate!"

Very close to Pop Fisher. Should make him a manager when he retires.

Came across my first 'double' named player in my solo league - a SP named "Zachary Zachary".

I just created a new league, and selected a player at random.

His name? Ricky Glasscock.

Spooky.

Well, none of these names are funny by themselves...but these are the 3-4-5-6 hitters vs. RHP for the computer-run Arizona Diamondbacks in my hybrid league:

CF Wes Walshingham
RF Wyatt Wilkinson
C Walt Wheelhouse
3B Whitney Whitelegg

Never saw THAT before...
