I'm reading through this and I'm sitting at midseason of 2008 and once again you are talking about wanting to trade your entire roster. Please go back and read through what you said when you started, you have completely lost your focus. My .02, keep it coming!

I might go back to this at some point. MVP distracted me, as well as real life stuff. If OOTP6 comes out before the end of the decade, that'd be good too. But yeah, I will eventually get back to this one - I think.
I still like that team.

I just want to see some more. I'm reading your MVP one also, but this one had me hooked.

Ready to go...
I've loaded this dynasty into my copy of OOTP6. We're moving it over, but I'm officially starting it back tonight.
Just wanted to let the few readers know

My next question..
Should I put up a site with stuff from this dynasty on it? Or do you all just want to read it here? For right now, we'll just leave it here. But once we get back into it, it might be more fun to look at players/stats and crap on a site someplace.

Umm...for right now, I'm staying with the Silverhawks. I think this is what this dynasty will be about, but who knows.

For all you readers looking to get reacquainted with the league, I've put up the site including player cards for the Moneyball League.
Just go to the link in my sig and on the left bar, you'll see "Moneyball Dynasty Site". That's where it is and where it'll always be, in case you get curious and want to check out this league. I need to reacquainted with the league, so the goods are comin'.

The Rule V Dynamics
It's super weird to be transferring an old league into a new system in the middle of the season. So yeah, woo.
So, I was looking around and the Rule V situation makes for interesting play because we have a really deep farm system in Nevada. So, now I'm going through to figure out who to put on our 40-man roster and checking out other quirks of the new engine that I will honestly admit, I know little about - save the stuff I've read. More to come, but I am excited/interested in what will happen. |

AROUND THE LEAGUE
There have been a flurry of transactions over the past few days, as the trade deadline nears. The Silverhawks acquired SP Ryan Sweeney a minor league pitcher from the St. Louis Cardinals for 3B Mat Acuna who was a career minor leaguer, with some talent and Rule V eligible. We're seeming to stock up on players, but that's not saying much. The Silverhawks are 14 games ahead of both Texas and Portland in the AL West. AL EAST STILL A LOGJAM You can best believe that the teams in the AL East will be making lots of phone calls, to see if they can improve their teams going into the last two months of the season. The Hartford Knights have a half game lead on the Orlando Rays. The Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees are all within 3.5 games out. "We're happy that we're competitive, but we want to win this thing," said Rays manager Lou Pinella. OTHER DIVISION LEADERS AL CENTRAL: Minnesota (Cleveland trails by 3.5 games) NL EAST: Washington (Philadelphia trails by 3 games) NL CENTRAL: Houston (Milwaukee trails by 2 games) NL WEST: Arizona (Colorado trails by 3.5 games) AL WILD CARD: Orlando (Boston trails by 1.5 games) NL WILD CARD: Colorado (Milwaukee trails by 3.5 games) |

WHAT NEXT? PONDERING THE 'HAWKS FUTURE
With the playoffs looking more real than ever for the Silverhawks, the question is, what happens after this season?
The 'HAWKS only have two free potential free agents. IF German Sachs and RP Pedro Martinez. You can best believe the club will try to sign Sachs, while Martinez is more of a crapshoot, as he might want to use the last bit of gas he has left as a starter or perhaps he'll latch on somewhere as a closer. Other than upgrading the bullpen, who knows what the club will do next. With a ton of prospects - as always - there are a ton of possibilities. The goal of course, is not only to be successful, but to sustain the success throughout the dynasty. So, that's really what this is about and we're going to do what we can to make that happen. |

NEW ENGINE
I'm noticing some differences in the way things are calculated with the new engine versus the way the league used to play. It's not bad, I just notice that there is more variety in scoring and such alike.
It's certainly nice to see though, just figured I would say that. |

SLEETH PAYING DIVIDENDS FOR GIANTS
SAN FRANCISCO - When the San Francisco Giants dealt SP Jesse Foppert to the Nevada Silverhawks in a deal for three other players, many fans still thought the team gave up too much.
But its starting to look like the Giants got a bargain. Not only did they pick up 2B Jose Vidro who is a potential free agent, and again is hitting over .300, but they acquired SS Lance Zawadski who despite being eligible to be a six-year free agent has some potential as a platoon player in the infield. The crowing jewel was SP Kyle Sleeth. A former 1st round pick of the Houston Astros, Sleeth, 26, is 5-0 in June/July and has a 1.46 ERA at Pac Bell Park. "He's been nothing but outstanding for us," said Giants manager Mark Grace. |

NOTABLE DEADLINE DEALS
VLAD HEADS TO BROOKLYN
NEW YORK - The Orlando Rays and Brooklyn Legends made a deal today that sent Vlad Guerrero and cash to Brooklyn for SP Fralyin Tejada and a minor leaguer. The deal was most likely aimed at saving the Rays money, since Guerrero is signed until 2011 and is owed over $20m per year. But he's earning his keep. The 33-year old slugger is a six-time All-Star and has been in each of the past four seasons. He currently has 22 homers and is hitting .302 with 69 RBI. Going to Orlando is the leftie Tejada, who is a free agent at the end of the year. The 27-year old spent his entire career with the Florida/Brooklyn organization and was 9-7 so far this season with a 3.67 ERA and 94 strikeouts. "He's got a lot of upside. If they keep him, I can see the deal being huge for them," said one AL Scout. The Rays lead the AL Wild Card race by one game over the Boston Red Sox, while the Legends are last in the NL East, 10.5 games out of first place. ROLEN, NOT THE PLAYER HE ONCE WAS - DEALT TO YANKEES NEW YORK - In the hopes of capturing a playoff berth, the New York Yankees acquired 3B Scott Rolen and cash from the St. Louis Cardinals for a minor league reliever. Rolen, 34, was made expendable when the Cardinals acquired Mat Acuna from the Silverhawks a few days ago. His $6 million salary was surely the motivation for sending him away. A year ago, he was an All-Star, but he was batting just .229 with 6 homers in 323 ABs this season. The Yankees hope he can find his stroke. |

SILVERHAWKS AT THE DEADLINE
The team is good. I can't really complain and we're doing well. I think shoring up the bullpen and helping our staff - which is at the bottom of the league in ERA - is probably the only priority, but don't expect any major deals.

CUBS DEAL R.J. SWINDLE
CHICAGO - After breaking off talks in early May, it was obvious that R.J. Swindle was going to be out of the Windy City before the deadline, the question was where. That question is no more, as the Chicago Cubs dealt the 26-year old ace southpaw to the Orlando Rays for cash and 24-year old touted LHP James Houser. who was struggling at 4-10 and an ERA of 5.79 in his first major league season.
Meanwhile Swindle, is 11-9 with a 3.43 ERA in his third full major league season. He had 30 quality starts last year in 36 starts. Scouts believe that he'll go to a team where he can live up to his full potential. "He went from Nevada to Wrigley. I mean, the guy hasn't exactly played in pitcher's parks. And Cracker Jack [Orlando's Stadium] isn't exactly a whole lot better," said one AL Scout. |

HEADING TO SEPTEMBER
I'm going to simulate to September 1st, so we can talk callups, see what's going on with the pennant races and basically get to the nitty gritty. After all, I've been on the same season since I stopped doing this dynasty and I think its time to get to a new season, no?
