Somehow, I have gone 4-9 in June to drop to 32-35 and I still lead my division by two games.

Baffling.

I won 18 in a row and only gained 1 game on Thalion's Geezers I am not sure how many his win streak was

This is how two blue whales duke it out in the same ocean (division) We are both loving the competition. I am currently playing .736 ball and I would be a wild card if the season ended today.

My team lost 6 straight to sub 500 teams and now has won 5 of 6 from a couple of stacked teams (the 2 best in the conference). We're 39-33 and barely in the WC lead at the moment. The team has earned only 1430 PP all season so I've not made a single upgrade yet. We earned a lot more PP last season but didn't do any better, record wise. It's looking more and more like we'll be advancing to a gold league. I'm sure we'll earn lots of PP there. Ugh!

GRRR. Though I found a gold player for auction who could help on the power front. Less than 30 minutes left with no bids. I had 600 points more than the minnimum bid so I was going to try and snipe it since I could not afford the buy it now price.

Somebody came in and actually bought it in the last 10 minutes for the Buy it now price

Wow, to have an 18 G win streak and only make up 1 G on the team ahead... Brutal.

My league has 2 divisions in the other conference with super-teams in them so two of them will be playing each other in a WC game. I'd hate to have such a great season and have it end by losing in a 1 game playoff.

We clashed in the Bronze League World Series when were in different conferences This is how teams that are very good will still be fun to play despite the doomsayers. We will all find our level and be able to compete.

Trenton goes 10-10 since last I checked before turning in for the night.
But Denver goes 8-13 during the same time.

It's really enjoyable interacting with you, Kushiel. It's really refreshing competing with you because neither of us seem to be the "in your face" type of competitor.

I actually didn't think I was going to like PT when it first came out, but I'm so glad I gave it a shot. It's really addicting.

I decided to tweak my strategy this morning. I've decided to up my aggressiveness on the basepaths to borderline reckless to see how that goes.

I run a speed-based lineup that's pretty aggressive already, and I've been toying with moving to 'borderline reckless' as well... I'd be curious to hear how it goes!

"Happy" Sam Jones (not Sad Sam) gave me 2300pts in 2 games! A no-hitter (1500pts) immediately followed by a 15k performance (800pts) in his next outing. That's got to be some sort of record.

BTW, if a no-hitter is 1500, what's a perfect game worth? Jones only gave up 1 walk in his no-hitter.

As for baserunning, I read in one of the other threads that there are massive rewards for multiple steal games. I can't remember the exact details but it was something like 3000 or 5000 points for 5 steals in a game. I'm trying to test it by having Lou Brock lead off for 2 of my teams and Ricky Henderson leading off the other.

So it was time to shake things up.

Gone are 2B Jose Altuve, 1B/3B Albert Pujols and SP Luis Severino

In comes 1B Prince Fielder and SP Lefty Grove while Paul Molitor will take over 2B

It's time to move on to some more Brewers and all-time favorites

BTW, we're stuck in the middle of the pack at 32-33
After letting Paul Waner and Adam Kolarek leave, replacing them with more Brewers, Jesus Aguilar and Jeremy Jeffress, the team suddenly started to pull things together, going 10-3 overnight

And the offense should be able to hold its own in a regular league with Carter/Rose/Vidro/Lansing/Alou/Grissom/Walker/Vlad/Staub. SS is a bit weak - I guess we count Maury Wills there, but he's probably the weakest position in the bunch. Bullpen might be a bit thin, too, but can fill it out with role players. Just a question of finding those starters, as they don't come cheap.
I found a good SS who played for the Expos. 1972 All star Chris Speier, 89 overall not bad for 5k PP.

5 steals was 9000 at the beginning of the beta. It's now only 1500, but with an elite base stealer, or two, you might get that once or twice a season if they can get on base enough (Billy Hamilton, Clyde Milan, & Alan Wiggins are the only worthwhile 100+ SB guys). 4 SB is 200, the same as stealing home. 3 SB is 40. I think that's all the baserunning achievements, unless there is 6+ as well.

Okay after coming home from work to a record of 4-9 for the day up to that point my team finally took off and finished the rest of the day by going 13-1

My pitching staff must have finally gotten warmed up as I allowed 3 or fewer runs in 10 of those games.

You're welcome. I didn't know what to do with him given that I already have Lindor and my fake position is firmly occupied by Walt Dropo.

During the second half of June my team got exactly two achievements for me. Tyler Skaggs stranded the bases loaded at one point. And then they snapped a 10-game losing streak. The wild card couldn't be much further away now.

I like the competition. I am old enough that if we hit a home run(much more rare in the wooden bat era) in Little League up through High School and American Legion we just dropped the bat and trotted around the bases. There was no showboating or gloating, ever. We were all good friends after the game. I never seen a fight on or near the field. We all were taught to win(only first place got a trophy) but at the same time that it is only a game. Maybe being reared by a minister dad that was a coach and league officer, enforced good sportsmanship. I love to compete and am a fierce competitor within the guidelines that my pappy taught me

We are having a great time! I have my base running ticked up already on my various strategy sliders. This season I turned the hitting all up to 1.100 in my stadium to test it out. That is not my style of ball and I hate it although I am doing well.

After promotion, I started the year 11-15 in April and thought I was going to have a year of getting set for next year. I have a SuperTeam in my division who went 24-3 that month, being 11 1/2 out on May 1 is rough.

But in May and June I went 37-19 and am 3 1/2 up in the WC. SuperTeam went 40-14 in that time frame, not that I am keeping pace, but my club is killing it. Haven't spend a penny, just buying up and getting accomplishments. I spent $8000 on a sub-optimal Pedro Martinez. After he under-performed, I dumped him for $8800 and bought Whitey Ford and Roger Maris.

I have a lot of points to upgrade, but I am going so well I am just going to hang on the them for now. Both of my 1st basemen are rated below 80 but they have combined for 22 HR's the first half of the season and one of them lead the conference in total bases. Ain't broke, so I am keeping things as is.

6 of my next 8 are against the SuperTeam. I just want to go 3-3. The two teams behind me in the WC are also in my division. Pretty loaded, unfortunately.

6 steals is 2000 (at least it was when I got it late in beta with Hamilton)
