Not only do I have the Greg the Bunny DVD, I also have the IFC DVD of their short films. Tardy may be the greatest TV character in the history of TV!

Awesome. I didn't think there were too many Greg the Bunny fans around.

Hello, Rocco,
i was on the net when i came across your list of boxers from the 1960,s,
and my fathers name was on it, Jim Mcilvaney, but as many records have put my father down as being born in Birmingham England, infact he was born in Bellshill Scotland, and moved to Birmingham in 1961 at the age of 18, this is why he is often put down as being born there, but is infact untrue, he is a true Scott and hates being called English as you can imagine.
I hope you dont mind me telling you his real birth place.
all the best to you,
Mark Mcilvaney(proud son of James Mcilvaney.

I'm not much on Greg the Bunny, but I have the Young Ones DVD if that rates at all . . or even if it doesn't.

Thank you for the information. Once we get the new DB on line and start adding fighters created here on the boards, we will absolutely get James's birthplace correct.

Hello Mark,

So great to "meet" you! It's really great to have you write about your father. So much of these ratings that we do on these boards for TCB get based in large part on what's on BoxRec website. You people like yourself came come forward with information like this on your father, I truely appreciate it! I got my hands on some 1967 thru 69 Boxing News just for the purpose of hoping to learn more about the fighters from the UK and Europe as I've gotten into this 1967 project of mind I really got interested in the fighters from "over there". I'll be sure to get an updated file on your father posted soon. We sure don't want him being called anything he doesn't like!

Thanks again for writing Mark!

Hey Austin

I can help you with both the Scarabellin's, Mazzola,Williams, and Zech. The Mazzola file has both a HW and LHW version. Both Zech and Mazzola ratings I did some recent tweeking of. The Williams is one for an Australian who fought in the 50's. Is that the one your looking for. It was a rating Lee Skye did.

OK i have four groups 4 group of fighters from the 70's,80's,90's &2000's each group has 20 fighters for a total of 80 fighters i have did a round robin sch with each fighter fighing each other 2 times 158 fights for each fighter here are the sch in three files they should work with the default DB for tbcb 2.5 if for some reason they don,t i have a zip file here also . YOU will have to create a new universe then go to your saved game folder find your new universe copy the down loaded files into the new universe files. Then copy the scheduler files in to your scheduler files. This should give you a good ideal of the top 50 fighters from 1970 thur 2008 or at least the way tbcb ratings go.The fighter ratings are the ones that come with tbcb 2.5.I hope this works ok i have never tried to down load zip files here before just fighter files.Have fun and this way you can make up your on mind about who was the best and how the 70,s compare with the 90's. <Bill>

I'm slowly going to work my way back into it. I'd decided to step away from the boxing for awhile to take a break from it and work on a project I'd had sitting on my to do shelf for the old table top All Star Baseball game. I'm getting close to finishing what I want to do with it for now (designing an excel spreadsheet for making some disks for it) and then will probably get back to the boxing.

I'd also kind of put a halt on it because I was and still am in the process of putting me together a collection of Ring, Boxing Illustrated and Boxing News magazines/papers from 1966/67 so I could read up more on as many of the heavyweight fighters from those years. I got interested in wanting to go back into 1966 because that is such an interesting year with all of Ali's title fights during that year in Europe and wanted to learn more about the British and European fighters from that time. It's been interesting reading these old publicationsOf the Boxing News papers I got all of 66 and 67 except for one week issue in each year. The Ring magazine I got all of 1967 and 1968 to cover the events of 1967 but I'm still missing February 1966. boxing illustrated I'm short still a couple issues in each of 1966 and 1967.

I also need to sit down and get my database set up in TB2.5 with all the extra HW's and LHW's that I had in my 2.0 data base. I still haven't done that. I really want to incorporate more the LHW's also into the project because there are some really interesting light heavies from the time period and there's such a mixing of fights between the two weight divisions that would give me a more extensive replay.

I am getting the itch to get back into rating fighters.

I'm really pleased to hear that your back on the project---I agree with you about how interesting that period was in boxing. It's really been overlooked!

BTW---I still have some Boxing Illustrated from that period---you're in Jersey, right? Let me know what issues you are missing.

Nope, I'm in Georgia. I'll write back later this evening (I'm at work now) and let you know what issues I'm missing.

Thanks for your interest in the project!

I'm hoping that Mark McIlvaney is still around this forum some to be in touch.

I remembered from some time ago your message here about your father James McIlvaney. It was great of you to have written to tell a little history about your father. I wanted to touch base to hopefully let you know of my goal to do a rerating of your father's career to have posted in the official TB2.5 data base. I've got myself copies of the Boxing News during his career (unfortunately don't have any 1965, so won't have his very first fight), and I'm reading through them to see what they have to say about your fathers fights during his career.

I'm hoping they will help me to learn a little more about the kind of fighter he was and who his opponents were to help with my rating.

just thought I'd try and touch base. If you do happen to see this, anything else you could tell me about your father that you'd wish to share, I would love to hear about. I'm putting a goal for myself to work on some of the less heard about UK fighters from that time period to put into the data base.

Thank you again for your story on your father!

Jim McIlvaney - HW Scotland 1965-68

This is the first of some fighters from the UK that I'm going to look at doing some ratings, possibly like McIlvaney here, an update from a TB2.0 rating I did earlier. I hope to get a few of these guys that I can dig up some info on from the Boxing News edititions I have from the mid/late 60's.

Career Record: W12(KO 7) / L13(KO 11) / D3

BoxRec lists his birthplace as Birmingham, but a gentleman who introduced himself to me on this forum as Jim McIlvaney put Jim's birthplace as Bellshill, Scotland. There's short articles in Boxing News issues in 1966 that I found referencing McIlvaney as from Scotland.

The accounts in Boxing News for McIlvaney's fights are brief at best, but they givea a clear indication that McIlvaney had a problem sustaining eye injuries and cuts that stopped him in at least 7 of his 11 losses that he was stopped in. The accounts though gave indications that though he and his opponents for the most part were not very scientific in thier fighting abilities, they put on some rousing slug it out shows that the crowds enjoyed.

The Data Base team will be posting McIlvaney's file into the data base. As I go through some of these fighters from the UK that I hope to get some insite on from the Boxing News editions I have, I'll post some update here in the HW forum once his rating is checked out ok by the data base team. I'm not going to post the files though since they can be obtained from the TB2.5 updates.
