I'm making good progress with upgrades tonight. I've just been typing random into Baseball-Reference and working on some facegens depending on what I get (tends to be a box score, so I usually make a couple per result). The result is that there are some very needed upgrades, but there's no real rhyme or reason to which players I'm hitting.

Anyway, here's a late night double shot of facegen updates, both replacements of some very overly genericized ones:

Not part of the team, and I'm a facegen beginner... but here is something. I am really happy with Hernandez. Colmenarez will work until he gets a better quality pic.

You definitely got better results than I did with Hernandez. I tried a couple times but he kept coming out a bit too derpy looking. Colmenarez is, as expected, a bit rough looking, but there's really not much more you could do with what's available.

Highlighting this player both as a facegen upgrade, and as an extremely unique career path:

Tony Bartirome

After his pedestrian rookie 1952 season, Bartirome was drafted into the army, and served two years. He then returned to the Pirates where he remained in the minor leagues until his retirement following the 1963 season, never playing in the majors again. Following his playing career, Bartirome served as head trainer for the Pirates from 1967-1985, and then as a coach for the Braves from 1986-1988. He is believed to be the only man in the history of the game of baseball to participate as player, trainer and coach at the Major League level.

Well Baseball-Reference appears to be experiencing some sort of outage, so I can't keep up with my tactic of using the random function over there. So I'm poking through a couple more recent world champion team rosters using the in-game history index. As always these aren't the only guys I've updated, just a couple I wanted to put out because the facegens in the pack for them were particularly rough.

Based on the pictures I could find, I wound up going with his look more towards the end of his career. I traced/darkened the glasses to get them to really show up once converted to a facegen. The result here is definitely an improvement over what we had before (also apologies for the sideburns in the preview, they tend to just turn themselves on at random in my save).

Took a stab at him myself to bring a bit more detail into the facegen. As far as I can tell, that mark on his cheek is just an error on this particular scan of the reference photo (which was the best quality scan of it I could find otherwise), so it was removed before putting it through the facegen modeller.

Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about the result with this one. It's most definitely better than what I had before, so I feel okay pushing it out. However, I don't know if this is one where I'm fully satisfied, and I might wind up revisiting it again down the road (or asking Lansdowne to take a crack at it). I wound up going through about 10 different photos along the way trying to get Babe's likeness captured, but was way off with most of them. Ultimately this picture produced the only thing that looked particularly okay, and even then it needed some pretty heavy editing after the fact.
