Syrups Remove Doubt Early and Take OL S272
Waffletown knew the task that lay before them and dispatched Coney Island in two-of-three games to open the final month and claim the sivler crown for 2030.
In PT play, Cleveland slumped badly down the stretch and was caught in relegation. |

Coney Island made a minor move today signing Biz Mackey to take over starting catching duties from Bob Boone who has been with the team since rookie league.
A little controversy struck the Warriors when SS Marty Marion walked into the managers office yesterday afternoon and demanded to be sold for 4x his value since he is part of a diamond BaL mission. We granted his wish and will be shopping for a new starting Shortstop today. The Warriors would like the thank Marty for his service (and the PP) and wish him well in his future endeavors. The word is the Warriors may have some other deals in the works. |

Even more impressive than the 73 Mets the Paxville Kings take the OL title after spending most of the season in last place. They finished with two very hot months to tie the Silly Mad Brewers, who led the league from the start. They win by virtue of a 4-3 record heat to head with the Brewers.
The Paxville Kings also won their division and are the only OL team in the playoffs. They have a chance at being promoted. The Helthwyzer Crakes rallied late in the year to avoid relegation but Boulder City Wreckers had a slow September to end up being relegated to Silver. |

Woohoo!!
Thanks again for the results, Quinta! I looked this morning and saw that things were tied, but I wanted to wait for your confirmation of the countback. I thought that the Mad Brewers probably had it because I thought they had a 3 game sweep of me in the first 6 games, but it was the Crakes! Bit of trivia. It took my packs team 24 seasons to reach Diamond last year. But Kane'ohe Bay have never lost close to the 118 that Paxville lost last week!! Looks like the Diamond BFF teams might be just about as brutal as DLL, so Paxville would be seriously overmatched again <gulp>. I'll be honest, I'd love to stay in Gold, but I'd also like a playoff run, so... fate will decide .

Annandale is pleased to announce a new addition to their starting rotation. Adam will join Cy Young, Smoky Joe Wood, Mike Mussina, and Burleigh Grimes. Charles Nagy will move to the bullpen.
(I'd been working on this mission all week and lucked into the final card last night when I checked the AH one last time before going to bed - someone had done a very short auction of the last piece for 5k under the L10 price, so I could just barely afford it. So now I have a new card and no money, so don't expect Annandale to make any changes for a bit). |

I track OOTP tournament winners as part of my "research" (i.e., to see what teams are really good so I can copy them!). Thought I'd post the weekly results comparing last Sunday to today. Paxville is right up there, and in fact, they are on the first page of results when you search for everyone and sort by tourney wins. So you could do worse than see what they're doing and take some inspiration from them!
The OL and BFF lists show just teams from those leagues, and the overall list is all of OOTP. The bottom part of the overall list is teams I encounter in Silver tournaments, since they are my main competition for Annandale. Last edited by Charlatan; 06-06-2021 at 08:44 AM. |

Hey Jason!
I did screw up at least one thing last week. I put Gem City in I219 instead of B227. It's fixed now.

You're doing very nicely in Silver! I don't think I can build a strong enough silver team yet (or probably for quite a while), so it's my trusty old bronze team that are still doing ok. I'd love to finally pull a Joe Birmingham and see if he's any good for my team.

Thanks. I have been working silver for a while and knew prices would jump once those missions came out so I assembed most of the team prior to that... when it was sort of affordable.
Regarding Birmingham, are you doing a packs only team? I ask because I see him on the AH now and then, and I have a spare one I could put up if you want to coordinate a sale. If you're packs only that's a different issue. |

2030 Waffletown regular season wrap up:
It was a solid season overall for the Syrups, finishing with a league best 108-54 record (1 win short of their team best 109 wins). Cy Young (16-14, 3.50), Satchel Paige (16-6, 2.81) and Smoky Joe Wood (16-5, 3.15) provided a solid 1-2-3 punch in the rotation. In the bullpen, John Tudor (3-1, 1.73, 73 IP, bullpen best 1.7 WAR), Adam Wainwright (7-3, 2.18) and Sam McDowell (2-0, 3 SV, 0.44 ERA, .169 avg, 0.87 WHIP) stood out for the relief staff. On the offensive front, Minnie Minoso of all players nabbed the batting crown with his .322 average, and Hack Wilson claimed another home run title with 32. Team stats, the Syrups ranked first in batting average (.280), OPS (.786), batting WAR (32.2), wOBA (.342), base running (+31.7), and runs against (596) Waffletown will await the winner of the Ames-Seattle wild card match. As if it were pre-ordained that the top ranked Syrups are going to crash and burn in the first round, of the 19 teams faced this season, Waffletown only had a losing record against two: Ames (3-4) and Seattle (9-10)

nice pickup! two diamonds short of that one here, but not even close on the funds to afford one at the moment (have been blitzing through some of the 'team' missions and have those down to just 6 more teams (2 East / 4 West) to finish that out). |

I am, and it sure is. Most people would say I'm crazy
(and Bottom of the Sixth). Thanks for the offer though. I was only looking at one this morning that was a mere 135 pp. Amazing that roughly 3m points worth of packs hasn't netted me one yet!

Final OL results in d366
Cary cooled down a little in the final third of the season but managed to hold on to win the championship overall:
Here are the final standings: Cary Southpaws: 11-6 Lemp Ave. Perfectos: 11-9 Cedar Rapids Reds: 6-8 Nowhere Men: 4-6 Annandale Atom Smashers: 5-8 None of the OL teams made the playoffs, but one (Cedar Rapids) will move town to gold next week:
