I think corporate, not being as close to the situation as the OOTP people, and with an attitude of "let's make this problem go away", gave away more than OOTP would have and more than was necessary. And what's the damage? How much damage could occur from a few people playing an obscure league on OOTP?

It could also be that the OOTP people think their parent folded and gave away too much.

The irony of it being Konami behind this is that their Pro Evolution Soccer franchise never had many official licenses but always had the players real stats but with mixed up player names. Non licensed teams also had 'alternative' names such as Manchester Red and Manchester Blue for Utd and City and so on.

Go to your games library and:

1. Right-click on the game the you want to look at
2. Select 'Properties'
3. Select 'Updates'
4. Go to 'Always Keep This Game Updated' and tick it OFF (default is on)

The abbreviation and full spelling of “professional” with the other two words bookending it are registered trademarks that were, most recently, renewed in December of 2021. Maybe that’s why they feel it necessary to scrub that, in written form, from these boards.

So deletion of the UL* is optional for everyone. The license holder just wants to irritate people who don't know.

It isn't overzealous mods. They have been crystal clear that the moderations/redactions were a directive from the OOTP team.

That's the choice of no updates or always update, not really much of a say
