Neither starter pitched especially well but when it was time for the bullpens, the Yankees shut the Blue Jays down while the Toronto relief staff was not so effective. Yankees win 9-5. That is five straight losses for the Jays. Jose Bautista, Brett Lawrie and Tyler Moore all went deep for the Jays. WP - Mickey Storey (2-1) Save - Boone Logan (2) LP - Tim Dillard (1-1) Record - 37-32 Toronto is now 2 games behind the Red Sox but still have the second Wild Card spot, .5 ahead of the Rays. |

Rex Brothers made it interesting, loading the bases with only 1 out in the 9th, but he managed to hold the Tigers to one and save the 6-4 victory, breaking his 2 game blown save streak. Jose Bautista went 3 for 4 with his 21st homer of the year. Eric Hosmer got his 11th. WP - Josh Johnson (6-2) Save - Rex Brothers (22) LP - Rick Porcello (4-6) Record - 40-36 Toronto is now tied with Baltimore for the second Wild Card. Last edited by rpriske; 09-13-2013 at 11:32 AM. |

When John Gibbons asked Aaron Crow to make a spot start they couldn't have hoped for what they got - one run off four hits over five innings, ultimately leading to a 3-1 win over Detroit. Anthony Gose went 3 for 4 with a lead-off home run. WP - Aaron Crow (4-2) Save - Rex Brothers (23) LP - Justin Verlander (6-6) Record - 41-36 Still tied with Baltimore for second Wild Card, 2 games behind Boston for the AL East lead. |
