This was only the second game of ours ive seen this year, so I dont know if it is getting better or worse.

But to answer your question, the hardest fastball was 92mph. Way below normal. The rest were between 89-91mph. Not anywhere near what he normally throws.

I didnt see many games at all last year, so im clueless as to what happened.

What's up with his velocity?

If I'm his pitching coach, I'd be mighty worried. That's probably the number one sign of a physical problem.

Which is ironic, considering he came into camp in far better shape than he did last year.

IIRC, a "slow" start for Bobby is somewhat par for the course, but not 90mph slow.

On the bright side, the Sox do have one or four other flamethrowers in the bullpen, one of whom (MacDougal) has experience closing games.

I'd just like to see the Sox hang onto a closer for more than 1 or 1 1/2 seasons...the last time the Sox had a guy with 20 or more saves in consecutive seasons was Keith Foulke in 2000 & 2001.

Off-field news: Jose Contreras has been accused of offering to finance an operation to smuggle his family out of Cuba for $200,000.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-...ck=1&cset=true

Apparently, he was served papers right before his start on Opening Day...just sayin'.

Well that could explain the bad performance on Opening Day.

The Sox might want to start looking at other closer options. Jenks is reminding me of Billy Koch His velocity is way down and I am very uncomfortable when he is on the mound. I hope he gets his act together.

Not surprisingly, you guys beat Fausto Carmona. I've said it before and I'll say it again.. he's garbage. He's our worst starter by far.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

Send that trash to Arlington. A young pitcher who throws strikes and keeps the ball in the park. I would love to have Carmona in the Rangers organization.

He certainly kept the ball in the yard yesterday.

Just like Danks did today.

Well, the two solo bombs aside, Danks pitched another pretty good game. Ultimately, 2 runs over 5+ innings isn't a bad start by any stretch.

Danks has been very impressive so far. Unfortunately, the offense hasn't helped him at all. I hope the "O" picks it up real soon because the pitching has been real good, except for those first 2 games of the season.

Dunno about last night's game, haven't checked the box score yet, but the offense suffered from Santanaitis in Danks first start. It's a common malady in the American League.

I just keep in mind that he's a 23 year old with 79 innings in the bigs. In 590 minor league innings, Carmona has given up 43 home runs and 109 walks. Nice.

Oh, and he seems to be liked by both scouts and the sabermetrically inclined.

Yeah, they caught a worse case of it today.

It sure would be nice if Contreras could find the strike zone once in a while...

We'll see if the cold weather excuse for the lack of offense was really valid tonight. It's beautiful here today and should be a great night for a game.

Well, this sucks.

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news...=.jsp&c_id=cws

The only outfielder the Sox have who is hitting over .240 goes on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April 16) with a right adductor pull. Boone Logan gets called up to take the spot.

Allegedly, it's going to be a mish-mash of Ozuna/Mackowiak in left until Pods is healthy...

It's a quote of a post from way back when.

Yeah, I'm lazy I'll do it soon. As for Pods, that stinks! He was actually looking pretty good this year. At least we have Anderson, LOL
