Didn't Ryan Howard miss about a month of the season? Still on a pace for 49 home runs. Gawdamighty, what a slugger.

He missed some time, not sure how much. There was also a brief period when Manuel was sitting him down with southpaws on the mound.

It's really scary how hard Howard hits some balls.

Did anybody catch Jamie Moyer's first at bat tonight? I don't think I've ever seen anyone intentionally swing at a wild pitch and immediately run like hell for first base before. That was brilliant.

Hamels has a sore elbow and is expected to miss up to 3 weeks. Not a good sign. Sometimes the rest helps but oftentimes surgery seems to be in the near future.

The Phillies have had to play through a lot of injuries this year and I give them credit for grinding it out the way they have.

Interesting, that a fellow with a .343 OBP is on a pace to 140 runs.

Didn't James or someone create a formula to predict how many runs someone would score, based on their hits/doubles/triples/homeruns/sb/cs? I think it would be interesting to see if Rollins is over that, or if his runs scored are a natural result of his extra base hits and stolen bases.

He's 25/30 on the basepaths. I'ma bettin' he's a good baserunner as well. 30 2b/15 3B/22 HR certainly helps. Having Aaron Rowand, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Pat Burrell hit behind you probably doesn't hurt matters either. The Phillies offense is certainly World Series champion quality.

If you wanted to cripple the Phillies playoff chances and could only remove one player from their roster to do so, it would seem the dart hit the bullseye. First Utley and now Cole. The baseball gods really hate the Phillies and they've been consistent in that regard since the club's inception.

There's a serious park effect at play there, but the offense is still pretty awesome.

I'm going to today's game. Hopefully the Phils can pull out of this tailspin. They really needed to take 2 of 3 from the Padres, now we're just hoping they salvage today's game.

News today is that Hamels injury may not be serious. The Phillies should really be cautious with this fella.

Manuel ejected with 1 out in the bottom of the first. Phillies respond by playing best baseball since 2000.

Just think how good they'd be if he were permanently ejected.

Am I the only one who thinks the Phils should go balls out for Arod this offseason just so they can lay claim to the greatest infield in the history of baseball?
