Boy, I'd love to get a pack like that. If I did, I think I'd be crazy not to go with a Halloween/Monster themed team!
![]() I think the ratings are off as those are some "heavy hitters"!

Gold 313
As reported earlier, the Annandale Atom Smashers are the Gold 313 champions. Final standings below:
Both the Annandale Atom Smashers and the Cary Southpaws dominated their divisions and are in the playoffs. Cary's Hal McCrae led the league in wOBA and Annandale's Cool Papa Bell was a real team player and led the league in sacrifice hits. Annandale's Cy Yound is in the running for a Cy Yound with an amazing WAR of 10.6. Kid Nichols is firefighter of the year with league high 45 saves. Good luck in bringing home some OL Gold! As there are 8 teams being promoted we know the status of all 4 OL teams next week (Crakes hung on to Gold but Waffletown was last team relegated): Annandale Atom Smashers Gold-->Diamond Cary Southpaws Gold-->Diamond Heltwyzer Crakes Gold-->Gold Waffletown Syrups Gold-->Silver |

This year's Iron172 Playoffs will see 3 OL teams.
Inland Empire Wranglers are all by themselves over in the NC while the Shinbone Stars and the Keystone Kops have a chance of battling it out on the AC side.

The Keystone Kops held an unscheduled press conference this morning where they announced some really big news!
Two days ago upper management decided to "roll the dice" and spend over 85,000 PP to purchase standard packs which produced no OL players above the Gold level. Last night, the Keystone's received and opened a handful of Drop packs which produced a two low rated Live cards that allowed the Kops to finalize a few big missions in which 99 N Garciaparra and 100 A Trammell were collected as rewards. This morning, management awoke to a 5 Standard Pack reward from a overnight tournament, which produced nothing exciting (OL wise). After selling off a few duplicate Live Cards, Keystone management decided to purchase 4 more Standard packs and the first one opened produced a 100 Bill Dickey who as of press time, was sporting a last 10 day average value of 395,370 PP. Boy, that is alot of PP! (This is the 2nd highest valued card I have ever collected from a foil pack, to date, starting back with PT19). Needless to say, these three late additions to the Keystone's starting roster, will hopefully make an big impact in the team being able to control Dutton Peabody's very powerful Shinbone Stars, who had their way with the Keystones, and treated us like a rag doll, this past season! ![]() Will the Keystones get hot and make a good playoff run and finally have a real chance to claim their first PT22 title? Will the addition of these 3 big guns turn the tables on the mighty powerful Stars, allowing the Kops to successfully pull off some sweet playoff revenge? ![]() Time will tell............ -30- ![]()

Plus side for Waffletown, they didn’t lose 100 games (which is typically my “best of the worst scenario”, so trying to look on the positive side.... Good luck in the playoffs for those who made it... my two other clubs (in bronze) both won 100+ games, so have a couple post seasons to check on later. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Still need...
Iron and stone standings to close out the crowns. Stone will have to wait until church is through, I'm guessing.

LabRats hang on to win Stone crown
LabRats had a solid, if unspectacular finish to the Stone season and were able to comfortably hold their lead.
3 OL teams make the Stone playoffs. In the AC, LabRats won their division and Daytona Beach picked up a playoff spot. In the NC East, West Burlington spent the first 2/3 of the season just behind the leaders, but finished strong to take the division crown.

That's all of 'em
Congrats to all crown winners and good luck to the PT playoff teams. Will check back around 1 p.m. for promotions/relegations and then 6 p.m. or so to hand out any PT hardware.
I have also fixed the Sunday Drivers crown posting. I plum forgot I had their logo. If no one tells them, maybe they haven't seen it yet. Last edited by Stanley Kuppchaser; 05-30-2021 at 11:55 AM. |

Wrap Up
Haven't done one of these in a little while. Just hit a wall in terms of coming up with new ideas. Thought I'd throw one up for the newer folks to see. I thinks it's nice to see all the crown winners together in the end. Might continue if I can come up with a generic page to put it on. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Update on G313
Well, Southpaws and Annandale both advance to Gold sub-league series. Though it is "theoretically" possible for it to be an all-OL series, it is extremely unlikely. While Annandale had the best record in the NL this season and is the odds-on favorite to advance, Kallisti (who Cary will face) is a whale if there ever was one: all the best players are on the roster of this late-starter --- only non-perfect on his roster is 99 Chicken Wolf.

Promotion and Relegation are Set
I will check back in later to see how OL did in the PT playoffs, but all the necessary results are in to determine where teams will be next season. It would be a good time to double-check your friends list, make sure that's what you have selected (and the game hasn't flipped it back to random), and be sure to submit your team once everything looks good.
R56 - Sunday Drivers to Stone. Gear Terrace, Hartford, Burnside, Shoebox remain. No relegation. St192 - Left Coast, Daytona Beach, West Burlington up to iron. Las Vegas remains. Iron Maiden back to rookie. I172 - Shinbone, Keystone up to bronze. Rte. 66, Inland Empire, New York, South Holland remain. No relegation. I192 - Gem City up to bronze. No other OL teams. B232 - Kaipo up to silver. No other OL teams. B239 - Asheboro, Bluffton up to silver. Otsego Lake, Baltimore, Sugar Hill remain. Gettysburg down to iron. S291 - Boulder City, Silly up to gold. Port Ruppert, Boston, Algoma, Cleveland, Coney Island remain. No relegation. G313 - Annandale, Cary up to diamond. HelthWyzer remains. Waffletown down to silver. D369 - Lemp Ave., Nowhere remain. Oaxville, Texarkana down to gold. That covers everything. Pay careful attention to Magus' new team. We should have crowns in everything except stone, which will only have two teams. Be sure to check that your selection of friends list is still there. This buggy game likes to throw in wrinkles. Today. after a good three weeks, it decided I no longer needed half my tourney team to be activated. Will check back in later. Good luck to those still playing. Southpaws in Diamond-level series, but Annandale misses out in final game
So both sub-league series went down to the final game. Atom Smashers lose out on the final game, but somehow Southpaws defeat the Goliath Discordians in the final game to advance.
It didn't look like that would be the case for most of the game. The Discordians were ahead 3-1 heading into the top of the seventh and the crowd noise was deafining. But Hal McRae hit a two-run homer to tie it up. But the Discordians responded with two more runs in the bottom of the eight to make it 5-3. But Cary wasn't done. Monte Irvin lead off the top of the night with a single to left. Enos Slaugter walked and Pendleton hit another single to left, to load the bases with two outs. Robinson Cano stepped in to pinch hit. After fouling off a couple of pitches, he sent the next pitch into the right-field bleachers for a GRAND SLAM, Finally, Discordian had no answer in the bottom of the inning, sending the Southpaws to another series.... but their first in gold.

The Keystone Kops turned the tables on the Shinbone Stars and won the AC sub-series 4 games to 1 with a game 5 that was one for the ages!
The Kops started out very strong and won the first 3 games of the series, including the first two, which were played at Stars BallPark. With Shinbone winning game 4, Keystone nation started getting restless wondering if the wheels were going to fall off the wagon. Game 5 was played at The Rock and Shinbone had the Keystones on the ropes for most of the game however, they could not find a way to finish off the Kops. Going into the Bottom of the 7th Shinbone was winning 7-1 and the Kops scored 3 to make it 7-4 at the end of 7. Top of the 9th Shinbone adds an insurance run to make it 8-4 going into the Bottom of the 9th. With bases loaded, Keystone's Hack Wilson hits a Grand Slam to tie it up at the end of 9, 8-8! In the Bottom of the 16th inning Keystone's Carlos Gonzalez, who was having a horrible series batting an ugly .077 AVG managed to hit a solo Home Run to allow the Keystone Kops to win the AC Pennant, 9-8! Boy, what a game! Keystone will advance to the I172 Series Championship where they will face the NC Pennant winners, the Steel City Buccos, a non OL team. |
