If there is a merge, make sure this thread gets merged in too. I'd love to see a big old mess of threads get squeezed into one and have all the posts get mismatched.

As long as the thread stays on topic. Otherwise, the righteous thing to do is close it.

The next largest thread is the Cubs/Braves playoff thread of last year with 764 posts. Wow, this one kicked its ass - HARDCORE!

I know I'm way late here but I agree with this. Using Petey last night was indefensible. The one dumb thing Tito did this series.

Pedro wasn't wasted, however. This was his throw day; he will start game 3 (& game 7, if necessary) on 6 days rest, a much better proposition than a game 1 start; and, the Sox kept their game 1 starter (appearently this was the idea before the game) fresh for G 1 of the WS.

After watching Timlin, it seems clear that these guys are pretty out of gas. They needed outs from another source other than ETF (F was off limits), and better Petey than Arroyo.

All in all, a net wash.

Not sure if this was mentioned or not (even later than SoxWin), but I tend to think it was just him wanting to try and exercise some of his own deamons of some of his sub-par past performances in Yankee Stadium, and with an 8-1 lead, why not let him use part of his off-day pitching in a "live" situation. No real harm (other than the criticism Francona will receive for it)...

So what is it then, Arroyo in Game 1, Wake in Game 2, Martinez in Game 3, and Schilling in Game 4? Or is it planned another way?
